This is not a mock, it's how I rank the players. It's not the order they will be drafted.

My ranks aren't based on any needs of teams, it's based on their quality of play and my perceived value in the NFL. My feelings on players not in this top 25 or a low ranking are very clear.

Comments appreciated, I will answer any concerns.

    1) Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah

    2) Jarvis Jones, LB, Georgia

    3) Manti Te'o, LB, Notre Dame

    4) Matt Barkley, QB, USC

    5) Jonathan Hankins, DT, OSU

    6) Chance Warmack, G, Bama

    7) Kawaan Short, DT, Purdue

    8) Keenan Allen, WR, Cal

    9) Geno Smith, QB, WVU

    10) Bjoern Werner, DE, FSU

    11) Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

    12) Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor

    13) Barrett Jones, OL, Bama

    14) Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M

    15) Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU

    16) Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

    17) Demarcus Milliner, DB, Bama

    18) Alec Ogletree, LB, Georgia

    19) Jonathan Banks, CB, Miss St

    20) Barkevious Mingo, LB, LSU

    21) Eric Reid, S, LSU

    22) Xavier Rhodes, FSU

    23) Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame

    24) David Amerson, CB, NCST

    25) Chase Thomas, OLB, Stanford

Barkely over Smith? How does Warmack compare to Decastro last year? The irony of it looking like a draft with a bunch of solid offensive lineman and yet that's one area on the team that actually has started to play better.

I'm not sold on Smith being better than Barkley. While Smith is a great talent, he's been over hyped, he's still high on my rankings. I like Barkley's NFL upside better.

I have Warmack rated better than DeCastro, he dominates. Warmack isn't going to be drafted in the Top 10, but I expect him to go higher than DeCastro.

I think Geno is the clear cut top QB. Not that he is the next RG3, but more that Barkley has not been the QB people expected entering this season. I guess it depends on how heavily you rate the bad games he's put up vs the good ones.

We all Love Te'o on this site because he looks to be a very good player in an area of need for us, but a ILB at 3? His position alone drops his value to the NFL. I think he'll end up on boards in the 10-20 range. Same thing can be said about Warmack, another Guy I would love to see in green and white come april.

Interesting to see Mingo so low. Most sites still have him well near the top of round 1. Over all well done as usual.

Don't go with the herd, Mingo has been pretty much silent this season. If you don't show up to play in College Football and are inconsistent, you're going to be big time exposed in the NFL.

I don't looK at the position "MLB", I look at the player and Te'o is a top 3 player in the nation, he won''t be drafted in the top 3. Remember, my rankings aren't where I think they will be drafted.

Barkley is more NFL ready than Smith. The last few weeks Smith hasn't been up to his superior level earlier in the year. I still have Smith in the top 10, that's pretty decent.

Pretty sold list, I'll comment further once I get back from class, but for now I have a few quick questions. Anyone you left off that you almost put on? And are either Dion Jordan or Damontre Moore close to reaching your top 25? They have impressed me a lot thus far.

I hope we get a good LB first round. I really don't like spending picks on OL in the first round especially with so many other talents on there.
    My projected draft would be:
1st Te'o if possible if not an OLB.
2nd Depending on the RB class it there ain't too many then another OLB if not then RB. Hopefully Maybin steps up and he can be named starter.
3rd RB OLB or OL depends on what we choose the first two

Haven't made my top 25 would be around the 40 range for me.

    My just missed:

    Xavier Rhodes
    Sean Porter
    Corey Lemonier
    Arthur Brown
    Ricky Wagner
    Jonathan Cooper

Terrance Williams is moving up big time, the guy is a freak, not many have him ranked very high. He's the 2nd best WR behind Keenan Allen.

Mingo has been quiet. I just have not seen many drop him that far as of yet. Not arguing your stance on him at all.

Players have a value and so do positions. The Most talented Guard will never be rated as high as the most talented QB. I look at prospects from an overall talent position as well, but no matter how good an ILB is as a prospect, he will have a hard time cracking the top tem of value, due to position. A players over all value is some version of Production + Natural ability + Intangibles + Position. You can weight them how ever you like but they all play a part in the process for me.

Barkley has had a couple of off weeks as well this season. Evaluatiing QB's is rough. Is NFL ready > over all athletic talent? In years past the pocket passer from the prostyle offense would ge a bump. Now days with the early sucess of guys like RG3 and Newton (despite his current slump) shows that you can build an offense around the talent and compete right away. The days of drafting a QB and sitting him for a few years are gone for better or worse. I think Smith can come in and compete at the NFL level. No he's not Ideal, but he's more gifted than Barkley. Unless he bombs the interview process, you take the more talent athlete here IMO. Its not as if there is a huge difference in accuracy or production that sways it.

Trust me, Mingo is WAY OVER RATED, and people aren't adjusting their rankings to reflect his poor play.

Everyone has their own process in ranking players. I try to rank a player based on their ability, consistency, and their expected contribution in the NFL. That's why I have Te'o & Warmack rated higher than they will be drafted.

I understand Teams don't value MLBs, and Guards high and don't draft them at the top of the draft, I just don't us that as a basis for ranking players.

Te'o in my mind, is a top 3 player in College football, it's a shame players are drafted for their position and the dollar value (salary) they're willing to pay for a specific position.

Nice to see Star ranked at the top of your rankings. My jaw dropped when I saw him destroy Khaled Holmes. An absolute monster

Mingo after a crazy slow start has played better these past couple of weeks him and Montgomery had a tough matchup with Joeckle and Matthews last week against A&M. Jordan and Moore as JTT stated would be in my top 25, definitely Moore as my top DE leading the nation in sacks right now and Jordan will most likely have a Chandler Jones type rising with his freakish ability. Other no real complaints good job as always WW85.

    Appreciate the comments!!

Moore hasn't made my top 25, but it's still early. He's probably around 30- 35, since I haven't ranked anyone above 25, just have them in groups of 5 or so. I will add to the list to make a Top 50 then 100 as things progress.

Mingo still hasn't impressed me this year, his inconsistent play has me very concerned. Montgomery is still not playing to his ability, but much better than Mingo. Woods is another player off my radar, when other's still have them in their Rd 1 mocks.

I'm not afraid to drop players when others won't, just like I'm not afraid to rank players higher than most...like Short, Warmack, T Williams & Chase Thomas

    Great list. WW85, I know you're currently sold on Manti Te'o, but dont we have that position already on our roster with D. Davis? Are you talking about;
    1) kicking Davis outside? 2) David Harris replacement already? 3) Te'o is so good and pojected long term player and leader that he is just too good to pass up?

IMO, C. Pace & B. Thomas are both done. Maybin just isnt showing me enough for full-time duty. As much as I like McIntyre, - he is strictly rotational player.

    Praying for 1 of the following 2 to wear Green & White next year;
Bjoern Werner, DE, FSU ---- 6-4 255 - perfect seeing him standup OLB in the 3-4.
Chance Warmack, G, Bama --- agree with you & everyone else that this guy will step right in and dominate and I can't remember the last GREAT JETS guard.

Watching Star against ISC really opened my eyes, he is so strong and fast that he remids me of Nagata.

What about taking a kid like this in the first if he is still on the board, putting him on the line with Ellis/Wilk and standing Q up as an olb?

I'm surprised Khaseem Greene didn't make your just missed list. Thought you were pretty high on him from your earlier post. This guy is one of the main reasons Rutgers ranks so highly in run defense and turnover margin.

We would have to lose every other game on the schedule to be able to draft him... And at that point we would be in full rebuild mode and should probably look at QB.

I think the DL is set, unless we switch to a 4-3, which we would then need a DE.

I like Greene, but he's no where near being a top 25 player. At best, he will be a 2nd rd pick, most likely Rd 3.

    Let's not be a Rutger's Homer:)!!

+1......The Jets aren't going to be in a position to draft Star, he's a top 3 lock.
