Ive been reading really good things about the talent in this draft, what WR could be had at the end of rd 1 or even rds 2 and 3.
http://walterfootball.com/draft2010WR.php This is a good list of names that are out there... not sure if the analysis are correct but at least it talks about all the "big" WR that should enter the 2010 draft... for specific analysis other guys can be more useful then me in this forum
Eric Decker is pretty good up in Minnesota. He won me over when he was screaming at his teammates trying to pump them up for the end of the Syracuse game. Dezmon Briscoe would be a nasty 2nd round pick, not great speed but awesome size, hands, and body control. Mardy Gilyard from Cinci is good too, but I'm hoping for a taller wideout. Kerry Meier might be a guy to watch in the late rounds. Former QB out in Kansas playing opposite Briscoe.
There is sooo much potential at WR in the next draft... we can address our need of a WR in either rd 1 or 2 (maybe even rd 3 but we have to be lucky). Hopefully we'll trade down in rd 1 and still land a good prospect... if in the first 2 rds we beef up the WR and DE positions (in no particular order) I'll be thrilled!
Mike Williams, from Cuse, could slip due to his off-field issues (had to sit out a year for plagiarism) but he's as good a WR, physically, as anyone in the country.
The Jets spent mega coin on our Franchise, Mark Sanchez. We need to get Sanchez another big player WR. I'm leaning toward Benn, Bryant or Williams in Rd 1. Benn and Bryant may be out of reach...but Williams will be a possibility. If we go another direction in Rd 1...DT/DE, which is fine, we need to get a WR in Rd 2 (Decker) or FA. We already have Cotch, Stuck and the Clown.........another marginal rd 2/3 receiver isn't going to cut it. I brought up a sleeper in a another thread............Terrell Hudgins, Elon....a big receiver that has some speed........someone to look at in a later rd...but not a starter, which the Jets need.
Dezmon Briscoe if he comes cud be another option in round 2, we need a wr bad a bigger one preferably.
After watching the Clemson game last night, I think Jacoby Ford would be a nice pick up in the fourth or fifth round. Ford could do some damage in the slot. Pros: - A track star with football pads on, so the speed is there. Supposedly the fastest player EVER at Fork Union Military Academy. - Electrifying return man. Cons: - Questionable hands...he drops a lot of passes - I think a lot of his drops come from trying to run before he catches it. It's definitely a problem that can be fixed. - Doesn't have great size at 5'9 185.
Probably next year will be the year..hopefully tanny can get something done if we slip up yet again at the WR position
Both will probably declare for the 2011 draft. They can't declare in 2010 because they are both true sophomores. AJ Green will be my top rated player in 2011 - even if Eric Berry, Sam Bradford, and Carlos Dunlap stay in school. Randy Moss 2.0. Well, maybe not over Dunlap, but it'll be close.
I really like Danario Alexander in the 3rd round. He has great size, very good hands, and is very hard to take down after the catch. He doesn't have great straight line speed and has had injury problems, but Alexander is been sick so far this year. Dude can flat out play. If Mardy Gilyard fell in to the mid-late 2nd round, he'd be a nice pick.
How do the big three compare to Crabtree? I mean, I dont like Crabtree but it looks as if we are looking at him... Ps I mean Bryant, Benn and Williams Pps are there some LaFell fans on thegangreen ?
Benn, Bryant, and Williams are all better pro prospects than Mike Crabtree...by far. I'm not a Brandon LaFell fan. I like both of Kansas' starting wideouts - Kerry Meier and Dezmon Briscoe are both solid players.
I agree about LaFell, even though he has improved vastly since his sophomore year, but still he does not have good ball skills, I know Jordan Jefferson is not a fantastic qb (better than one thinks but thats a different conversation) but I can think of multiple times Jefferson threw some catchable balls and Lafell droped them or just missed them
I bet i can find 32 NFL GMs who would disagree Say what you will about Crabtree but as PROSPECT he was arguably the best player in last years draft.
Crabtree was one of the best "COLLEGE" players in the draft, but not one of the best NFL prospects in the draft.
