I’m sure I’m not the only one who is surprised that we didn’t make a bigger pick up at WR on cut down day. I know it was slim pickings but we’re going into the season with Robbie, Q , & Crowder as our only legit WRs. We all know Q & Crowders injury history and Robbie was constantly nursing an ankle last season. I would have loved to put a waiver claim on Josh Doctson. Not sure why we didn’t but that’s water under the bridge. Two names I keep thinking about that are both controversial choices are Treadwell & Terrel Pryor. Both are very large targets with minimal upside but can be very useful. I’d prefer to bring back Pryor. I’m not sure what his issues were here last season or in the rest of the NFL since he can’t stick with another squad but him and Sam definitely had some chemistry last season .
Still a work in progress GW. Lets things play out in 2019 so we know exactly what we need to do in 2020.
I think Dortch is worth developing. Actually like him more than Berrios, although I haven't seen Berrios in NFL action yet. Bellamy is ok depth who contributes a lot in specials. I also expect Herdon (starting week 5), Montgomery and Bell to contribute a lot in the passing game. Overall I think we are ok as long as we stay somewhat healthy. Those other WR's don't interest me much aside from Doctson. But even with Doctson, you have to wonder how he doesn't make the roster on a terrible Washington team..
Bell will be touching the ball roughly 30 times a game (pass/rush). That leaves 30 more touches for all other players (Montgomery, Powell, Anderson, Q, Crowder, TEs. etc). Figure about 5 targets a game for the others. How much difference could another other make?
Personally haven't seen him in NFL action, so only going off college tape and resume. With Dortch I liked his college tape and I liked what I saw from him in preseason. In fairness to Berrios, I haven't been able to see him here yet, which is what I meant. Should have a better idea after tomorrow. In either event, I'm glad we got Dortch back on the PS tho.
He is a our punt returner and we only have 5 WRs on the roster. Berries will be active. We won’t dress only 4 wrs
Pretty sure Gase said he’s playing. If not then we have no punt returner unless we try the Cannon disaster again.
Treadwell is not a vested veteran, I think with Treadwell it's more because he is just not that good, he had 3 seasons to show something and didn't.
if we don't look crisp tomorrow we may not need his help going down in flames. obviously the 2 pats games are toast so we need to take care of business against the bills and fish. no BS.
What else is new? They've been doing it to us for almost 20 years without him. The nutjob should've stayed and done it in Oakland where he could've made a difference. In NE who cares? With or without him it'll likely be the same same result.
If there's one good thing to come of this mess, it's seeing Gruden getting played for the fool he is.
