It's obvious that we need upgrades in several positions. Enunwa is probably finished. Would you trade a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Diggs? He is only 25 and has shown up in big games. Get it done Mac!!!...(just kidding)
Nope, jets are slated to win no more than 4-5 games IMO, all draft assets at this point need to be saved because Joe Douglas has got a lot of work to do. If anything we should be looking to see what we can get back for trading players like L. Williams
really depends. in general i think if trading for a player i wouldn't trade anything 4th or better. I'd only use 5-7th round picks to trade for players as those are typically busts in the draft anyway. However I would make an exception if it fits 3 criteria 1) player is young (27 or younger) 2) player fills a huge position of need and is an above average talent 3) player is signed to a LTD (at least 3 years left) the reason for this is it is someone who isn't a stop gap, we get cheaper then their value (since the team signing the LTD already paid out the large bonus) and it fills a nee guaranteed where a pick is hit and miss. Diggs in this case fits all 3 so i'd happily give up as high as a 2nd rounder for him. I wouldn't do a 1st though. I'd never trade a top 10 pick for any player unless it was a young aaron rodgers and we needed a QB
no, no no. Jets need to stockpile not trade picks. Draft some decent OL next year, and quit drafting 4-3 DL for your 3-4 defense. Q. Williams will make the same impact Leonard Williams has made (minimal), as long as they play him out of position in their 3-4. MacCagnan never understood that the best player available might not fit the scheme the coach favors, but since MacIdiot ignored his coach on draft day no surprise.
I wouldn't give up a 2 for Diggs as we are most likely going to wind up with a top 10 pick, so our 2nd is effectively a player that has 1st round talent and will be under cheap team control for 4 years. I would definitely consider giving up a 3rd rounder for Diggs though as he's only 25 and would instantly give us a #1 receiver that is under team control for 4 seasons. Perhaps package Leonard Williams and a 4th or 5th if that guy even has any value left.
A young team thrives on top talent playing on their rookie contracts. We can have 2 top vets -OR- 5-6 rooks playing out a 4-5 yr rookie contract for the same cap. We need young studs playing on the O-Line. We need good young DBs and WRs playing on their rooke contracts. That's how we keep guys like Adams.
Why are we assuming Diggs will be available for a 3rd rounder? There are other teams that are closer to contending than we are, so if Diggs for a 3rd rounder is such a steal, the price should get bid up higher than that.
I would give up a 3rd no question. That said, I don't think Minnesota would trade him for a 3rd. Our second rounder is going to be somewhere around 35-40 overall, so that one I'd rather hold on to. It's a good spot to nab an OL.
I’d give a 2nd and a 3rd why reach for a wr who could be as good as diggs when you can have diggs. I don’t think will be a top 10 pick this year with Sam coming back soon and easy schedule at back end.but even if we do have a top 10 pick trade back and recoup the pick we traded away. Diggs talent does not come around in free agency. So you either get lucky in draft or trade for one
I wouldn't give up anything higher than a 4th. He's a missing piece for a contending team that can afford to give up a 2 or 3 without missing a beat. That scenario is vastly different than where the NYJ are at this moment. Stockpile picks, especially premium ones, and then stockpile some more. BPA every round between OL, Edge rusher, CB and WR...
In general I can't disagree, but the Jets DO need a top WR, and he's better than anyone they could likely get with a 3rd pick; giving up Leo to sweeten the deal would be "addition by subtraction" on the Jets end.
I’m confused. The OP was the one who wanted to trade Bell & Adams for draft capital and then is asking if we should trade draft picks for Diggs. Hmmm.
Diggs for a second or third round pick? No hesitation. Would take pressure off the run game and give Sam a legit target. Odds of drafting his equal in the second or third round is slim but of course Douglas has never missed on a pick so we're guaranteed to do better with a second or third round draft pick than Diggs.
