I don't understand what the front office expects from these players. NFL players already get the worst contracts in any sport. The Jets don't have to pay all of Pennington's contract if they want to get rid of him. They have to pay the guaranteed portion. Thats how the contract was written up, and thats how it looks like it will be played out. I think they will cut him, give him his guaranteed money, and then offer him a small contract and the chance to compete for the starting job. Asking Mawae to take a pay cut is insulting. He is the premier player at his position, he's been with the team longer than any of the guys asking him to take a cut, and this is the first time he's ever had a serious injury. If I were him I'd tell Mangini and Tannenbaum they can go to hell. It seems like the front office is looking for some kind of charity from its players. Between this and demoting Bradway before the draft, the Jets need to get their shit together.
