Would the Jets win it all this year if they had Penny?

Since it's the offseason for us Jets fans I thought I'd throw out a hypothetical.

Remember those seven/eight-minute drives Chad used to churn out like it was his job? This defense would be able to stay fresh. The promised land may have been in reach in '09.

    Revis.

The only answer I can give is, "I don't know". I think we'd be in the playoffs, but I doubt we'd go anywhere. Remember all the threads about Penny's weak arm? The pick sixes he gave away on the sideline routes routinely? There's a lot of weaknesses to the physical side of Pennington's game. Probably too many for us to overcome, even with the good play of the defense.

No, he'd be hurt like he always is in odd-numbered years.

We are NOT losing b/c of the QB. If it was all about the QB we'd be 11-3.

I agree with you that Sanchez is not a problem for this team. He is a definite asset.

    This.

Having the 29th ranked passing attack isn't helping matters. We need to be able to move the ball through the air so that we can pull away in these close games instead of letting the other team stick around all game. TD's, not FG's.

    No.

If Pennington was the QB, even if he were healthy, his arm strength allowed opposing defenses to always stack the box, which killed our run game.

Bingo. No way the Jets have a top rushing game with 9 guys in the box every play.

It's because he's handcuffed right now, hopefully they unleash him these last two games.

He was making some very crisp throws yesterday threw the wind and that pass to Braylon was a beaut.

If any of our damn receivers would play defense on a ball that doesn't hit them directly he'd have a lot less INT's.

He's not ready to be unleashed. If we lose next week then go ahead and unleash him vs. Cinci, but so long as we have a remote shot they need to reel him in.

I think he is ready, I think that's what is messing with his decision making.

He's used to playing a certain way and for so long, now they have him second guessing himself in decisions where you only have a split second to decide.

I'm not sure why you think so. What has he done to show that?

Yesterday alone, when he knew he was "allowed" to pass he made quick decisions and zipped the ball in there.

When they throw the yellow plays at him, he's probably nervous as shit and trying to please the coaches and the players instead of what comes natural to him, which is to just play football.

He throws a beautiful deep ball but they rarely let him air out. They should go for more big strikes, and more PA passes.

our run game was usually pretty good w/ Chad including Curtis' best year. Let's not forget that D's have been stacking the box on us all year and we have run the ball very well.

His 3 INT's yesterday really gave you confidence?

Pennington are you f-ing kidding me. He would lead us to the playoff. Then come out a throw a few picks. Then he would take a sack and his arm would fall off. This would cause everybody to cringe because Kellen would be our only hope to advance past the wildcard game. Hopes dashed as usual, weeping and gnashing of teeth and yes of course they would hear the lamentations of our women. Lets stop living in the past with all these bullsh%t hypothedicals. Lets just hope that we have an offense that put some god damn points on the board next year. If that happens we have a shot a the SB. F$ck any player who is no longer a Jet.

That last one he was just trying to make something happen.

The other two while not perfect at all if the our receivers would make any attempt at the ball at least one would've been knocked down.

I just want to see one game where they let him throw it more, you're right that probably won't happen until next year.

I do think that this years experience is great for him and glad that we went this route.

While Thomas Jones is awesome, he's no Curtis Martin, let's be honest. At the very least, Curtis would run outside.

The box would be stacked far more often if we had Chad this year, and we wouldn't have as great a running game.

Don't get me wrong, I think we'd have been about the same with Chad as we are with Sanchez. We just would have won the games we did a different way. We would still be on the outside looking in come January though.

The Jets record is far from the QB's fault is really my point. And I know we agree there.

TJ and Curtis are very similar players, the biggest difference is TJ got a late start b/c of some early injury issues. Neither is an Adrian Peterson HR type but both are amazingly consistent.

The box wouldn't be stacked more w/ a vet QB even though he lacks arm strength.

I definitely agree this year isn't on the QB, he's played well enough to win 10 of his 13 starts.
