I don't understand why Chris Baker is rarely used.

He's clearly capable of catching the ball, and gets it done when needed to. In todays game against the Ravens, there were many times where Baker was open in the middle of the field, but Clemens did not give him the ball. His first catch today was a TD, which by the way, he did a great job dragging both of his feet in.

He needs to be used more in this offense. I really don't understand why he's not used.

I mean, after all, he is Chris Baker, the ____ Maker. ( Insert either Touchdown or 1st Down, which ever you'd like :) )

Chris Baker catches everything thrown his way, but the problem is not many balls are thrown to him for some reason. This surprises me, mostly because Schotty came from SD where Gates was the center piece of the passing game.

Also, with out O-Line, Mangini & Schottenheimer have been using TEs to help block

Exactly. That needs to be changed, because it's clear that Baker can get the job done if he has the ball.

  5. He often is kept in to handle the blitz. If we develop more of a running game, and become more successful on screens, our OL is petty good against a regular front 4, and that will allow Clemens time to throw and Baker a chance to get some receptions.

Our offense, since Paul Hackett came in, has always used the TE as a blocker first and a pass-catcher second. With the weakness on the o-line right now that trend is going to be accentuated not negated.

Baker sadly has to stay to block for the majority of the time because the O-Line is weak at times with the pass blocking.

It's quite simple. The O-line sucks. We need to keep everyone we can back to block. You'll also notice it is rare that Jones goes out and runs a route because everytime we pass we need him to block. It's unfortunate because I know what kind of potential Baker has catching the ball, but hes a god blocker and thats what we need him the most for right now.

i thought it was kind of ironic that dick enberg said "the jet TEs dont have a catch today" and 2 plays later he made that sweet grab. he def needs an expanded role.
