1. Justin Blalock G, Texas, Big Man to give us some heavy duty run support, will team with Mangold and Ferguson for a long time, I like his potential as an immidiate contributor, and for a long career in Green. Best Bang for the buck in the first round. Considered...Aaron Ross, Greg Oleson 2a. Josh Wilson CB, Maryland, Great speed and smart head on his shoulders, seems to be in the Fabian Washington mold but a harder hitter and better tackling technique. Aaron Ross seems like the first round option at corner but he seems to remind me of someone we have on our roster named Miller, Great athleticism but raw and maybe a bit dumb, not stump dumb like J-Mill but close. BTW Miller is one of my favourite players. Considered...Josh Beekman, David Irons, and Lamar Woodley (who I think will be gone) 2b. Ikaika Alama-Francis OLB, Hawaii, Fast and strong on the outside can be our pass rush along with Bryan Thomas, great work ethic and very good personality. Considered...Victor Abiamiri...Quentin Moses...Ben Patrick 3. Mike Walker WR, Central Florida, A wild card small school product with great size and speed, looks to be very athletic, could be similar to Anquan Bolden only with more speed, scary upside. I have a feeling about him, same as I did Maurice Jones-Drew last year, he is my guy through thick and thin, Jets or not. No one else considered, just wanted this guy 5. Anthony Waters MLB, Clemson, Was a contender for Nagurski, Butkis, Bednarik and All American awards prior to injury, great team leader, Big and strong 6-3, 245, will challenge sometime down the road for that block eater MLB spot. "He's not replaceable. Hes our team leader, period. Offense and Defense, we feed of his energy." as quoted by teammate Nick Watkins post injury. Like to see him overcome adversity, easy pick here 6. Conrad Bolston, NT,Maryland, 30 bench press reps, 6-2 305 stout and powerful, maybe could work in such as the Jason Ferguson mold of NT and with smaller size could have better stamina. I am not a fan of this pick because all of the guys I like are 7th round grades so it is a bit of a reach. Many of the guys in the 6 round grade bench less than my grandma. considered...Keith Jackson, Ola Dagunduro NT, Quinton Echols (for a big man he eats too many Ding Dongs and Ho-Hos, the man is fat, I was pumped to see him until I saw he benched only 23 times. I would also take a flyer on Garrett Wolfe here, just to add another playmaker who could slide into the slot and give some offensive depth with big play ability
I really like it. However, Francis projects more to a DE in the 3-4 because of his size (listed at 280; 3-4 DEs are usually like 280-300 lbs.) and we already have a boatload of them. I'd take Moses over him because we're not as deep at LB and it allows us more flexibility with what to do with Barton and Hobson (ie. Barton's fat contract and Hobson's contract expiring next year). The rest of that draft is golden for the most part, however. I don't know too much about the later round picks but the top 4 are ideal IMO.
Cheers, Moses just scares me a bit because of his pro day, I would probably go with Abimiari over him. I love Woodley but with not having a pick in at least the mid second he will be gone. This year there seems to be alot of value at 3-4 and the dropoff is huge at 5, 6 and 7, I hope we can replace our pick in the 4th
Thats a good mock Wolfe and is has value written all over it. I think Wilson will be a player for sure. He is very under the radar with all the corners in this draft. I also think we wont draft a CB in the first round because its deep and Mangini can coach up CB's. It def. be a draft that I couldnt complain about. Waters could be a steal as well.
Yeah if Woodley's there at 59 then I probably nab him and hope that Wilson falls the extra 4 spots to 63 (good possibility). I wouldn't mind Abiamiri if Tannebaum and co. go with him instead at 63, but I ahso happen to think that if anyone can smack the senioritis outta Moses, it's Mangini. I'll trust Mangini and co. on that one though. If Moses is there and they go with Abiamiri, I won't have a beef against them or anything because I actually TRUST this FO's decision. Abiamiri was also at one point a sure-fire 1st rounder so either way I'm fine. My point was just that I think we go OLB there since Francis is more of a DE (unless if they wanna try and break the traditional mold with him and use him as a huge OLB because he still has very good athleticism). EDIT: Actually, I just checked Hawaii's website and Francis is listed at 250 - great for an OLB in the 3-4. I dunno who to believe but if that's correct then sign me up for him, as I really like the kid.
I see him as an Adalious Thomas type, I saw he was listed at 280 recently with a 4.6 40, but it is also off-season, I could see his playing weight at high 260s to low 270s. I also trust the front office with whoever they pick, what a difference that makes. He has been tested by FOs around the leauge at DE, OLB and TE (TE was Hermy and the Chiefs, so I do not put much weight in that)
good mock - couldn't complain with any of that. As for Alama-Francis. He is 280 right now, but I see him exactly as you do - an Adalius Thomas type. I think they'd probably play him at OLB first, but if he can handle it, he could be a multi-position terror.
Outside of the obvious , Alama-Francis is the most exciting prospect in the draft IMO. Hes going to be a beast , seems to come from a humble backround too.
