Does anyone know how much money we have uynder the cap now that there is a new agreement? I Thought I read a post last week that said after all the cuts we were like 12 million under, and so with the new agreement we'd now be amost 20 million under. Is this accurate?

Prior to the CBA extension, someone wrote on this board that the Jets were approximately $14 million under the cap after all the cuts and after the cap went from 92 to 94.5 million. So add $7.5 million (new CBA increased cap from 94.5 to 102) to the 14 = Jets under cap by 21.5 million. Not sure if you can subtract Abe's $$$ once he's traded, but if so, there's another 8.3 million off.

To moderator: there are so many questions on this cap situation, it would be cool if someone researched it and then it was posted on the front page or something so people could have ready access to the answer...

Wrong about abe. Unless he signs the Tender the franchise is not charged, but if he does then you get the 8 million cap hit. To trade him he will have to sign a new contract with the JETS and then have him and the contract traded to the new team. Then put roster bonusestwo days after the deal is struck so the JETS dont get a cap hit but the other team gets charged as normal. Then you only need to cover his salary for a day, and after that you are scott free.

Currently Abe's cap charge is $0. You neither gain or lose cap space by trading him, or revoking the tag.

Sorry I don't know what a situartion is. If you meant situation, then with the new deal we are now about 22 million under the cap.

I don't think your correct here, I read in the NY Post about a week ago that his # as of now is counting against the cap, that is why the Jets had to get under the cap before the deadline. I am not guaranteeing this, as we all know the Post is less the reputable, but I did post a thread about it, and the respones were mixed, some said it was counting, others said it will not count until he signs the tender. Lets research this.

Nope you're wrong Welker, it counts just like a "likely to be earned" incentive counts. It counts until he is released or traded.
