With lackluster CB's we have, and now with the CB injuries, does it put your mind at ease since we have some promising safeties? Can the safeties cover up some of our CB issues?
We were ok when Revis went down and Cro stepped up. If Milliner comes back in time for the regular season and Pryor steps up we will be fine. Likely going to see a lot of Cover 2 again this year.
We have some ok safteys? We haven't seen Calvin Pryor take an NFL snap yet.Landry and Allen are solid depth but not quality starters and arent particularly great in coverage. With the pass rush we have we would be a Seahawks type of defense with a stud corner on the team.I have high hopes for Pryor but i m not gonna assume he is gonna be a instant success until I see him play a few pro games
Exactly "pretty good" ,I said they weren't great in covergae because there not,but they are pretty good. Its like when you see a movie that kind of sucked but there were parts that you liked and you say eh it was " pretty good" but it wasn't great.
Allen is very good in man to man getting better in zone and great in the box. You are not going to find many safeties that can hold their own against the likes of Gronk. Not sure why he's not a "quality starter". Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good.
Its helps but its not gonna help on the outside. Rex is gonna have to get creative if Milliner has to miss any regular season time.
I bet Rex is REALLY pissed that Idzik didn't bring Revis back. Not to beat that horse, but I have sneaking suspicion that call wasn't entirely Idzik's to make. I think Woody didn't want any part of Revis or his agents.
Im sure Rex wanted Revis back in the worst way. But for this team Revis the person is too much of a douche to outweigh Revis the player. And thats saying something for a top 3 player at his position. But you're right Woody and Idzik wanted nothing to do with that Im sure. To some extent the same could be said about the teams feelings toward Santonio Holmes right now. He could probably step in and be a solid number 2 option for our WR group. But his past antics will keep that from happening.
Yea but Rex is in a tough position. He has little power now playing for his job again. He's at a point where he has to accept the GM and owner's choice and make the most out of them.
Well my point is if he wasnt that type of person he would already be signed. Maybe even with the Jets. Some veteran players change their roles /attitudes and stay productive players. Some stay assholes and are out of the league at 30 and broke by 35.
Revis is a mercenary....I bet Coach Ryan was butthurt that a defensive player left by choice. Not one fuck was given when Holmes left.
I think everyone was mostly happy when Holmes left. He will never be the same player after that injury. And they certainly don't need him as a locker room personality. As for Revis...Revis was fine in the locker-room....just a bitchy and hard to deal with when it came to business. Revis didn't leave...he was traded by the Jets lol. Revis said he wanted to come back to Jets...I think it would have been fine. Relationship wise, they could have worked it out and still be amicable business partners....but woody let it get the best of him.
Yeah. I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall for those phone calls....and the conversation after.
For those worried about Patterson, he performed really well early in training camp until his injury popped up to aggravate him again. Soon enough he'll be healthy again. If you rewatch the 2 plays where he got burned, one he slipped, the other play he did not look right. He was running strange and looked injured.
Aside from Pryor there is no quality starter at safety tbh, and im not saying pryor is great since he didnt play yet but the others safetys we got are stopgaps guys without enough range and/or phisicality to play the position.
