How will our cap be affected over the next few years. Will the cap hits of the cut players be spread over a numerous ammount of years or will all the dead money be gone after this year? I hope we have some cap room to work with next year after all these cuts that are going to happen.

If Pennington is cut I believe the cap hit would all go towards 2006's cap...

Honestly we are about 2 or 3 years from becoming contenders so why not make all these cuts now and then put a foundation towards the future in place. At least if we are going to lose lets lose with yung guys while we are in cap hell and then try to win when those young guys learn how to win.

I'm pretty sure if they are cut before June 1st we absorb the entire cap hit this year and they will be off the cap next season. If we wait until after June 1st to cut them it will be spread out between this season and next.

That right, but we can't wait on Chad becasue his contract calls for a $3M roster bonus on March 3.

All cuts we make will effect the 2006 cap only. They won't be spread out.

Usually that is the case, but not this year, because there is no cap in place for 2007.
