Tanny told him he'd be the number two. In his conference call he clearly stated tebows number two. What's Stanton going to do? He must be pissed

Nothing wrong with collecting a cool million holding a clipboard.

No... he will fight it out with McElroy like a real man. It's not like he's ever been anything other than a backup.

Crap like this happens all the time. Nothing is guaranteed. Stanton can either be a team player and take it like a man, or he can whine like a little baby and have everyone hate him.

    his choice.

I agree. Although I did laugh when Ryan Fitzpatrick left the Bengals saying he wanted to be starting QB.

We just signed him for $1.25 million, they're not just going to cut him.

Make McElroy the water boy for the shit he said in the off season and wip him in the ass with wet hot mops.

If they save that then Stanton has to get cut right?

Stanton's contract isn't guaranteed. When they cut him, they save $1.25 million. Keep McElroy to caddy and for hazing purposes as the #3, Tebow suits up as #2 and you gain an roster spot at the HB, TE, H-back, etc position. Tebow's salary is $1.5 million, so for an extra $250K this year you basically get a back-up QB that will run the wildcat, an extra HB, TE and H-back all for $1.5 million and the price of 4th round pick (OMG what would the Jets have done without Bilal Powell last year>>>>>????) and flipping a 6 for a 7.

The Jets will most likely end up with 4 extra comp picks in the draft anyway - an extra 4, two 6s and a 7 for an original total of 11 draft picks prior to the trade. Right now they have a 1/2/3/5/7/7 and with those extra picks they will end up with picks possibly projected as follows: 1/2/3/4C/5/6C/6C/7/7C, for a total of 9 picks + Tebow.

    This was a no-brainer move...

Lol at the thread question. Stanton hasn't proven anything to demand the 2nd QB.

If this is close to accurate I'd be looking to probably move that 5th and 7th for something as well whether it be trade bait or to move up that 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Depending upon which projection is used, it could also be a 5/6/7/7 as well in comp picks. The issue is Shawn Ellis because his contract was in the Rd 5 range but his production wasn't really there. It could bump to a 4, stay at a 5 or slide to a 6. The Jets should also pick up picks for Drew Coleman, Brad Smith and Braylon Edwards.

Let's put it this way, he obviously knows this is a 1 year gig, with no hope of re-upping at seasons end.I doubt anyone was knocking down his door before he came to visit us?
Collect for a year and check your options at seasons end.
