Jets | Tutt getting ready for training camp Thu, 6 Jul 2006 19:32:36 -0700 The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports New York Jets rookie RB Stacy Tutt survived the team's offseason minicamps and he's now getting ready for training camp. "There are a lot of things I need to work on, but I think they're happy with me right now and anxious to see how I do once I get the pads on," said Tutt. Tutt says he now is a tailback learning how to take the correct angles on blocks and other footwork-related tasks with which he is relatively unfamiliar. Though he played some wide receiver at the University of Richmond, Tutt has never played running back until now. Tutt, 6-2, weighed in at 241 pounds for the Jets. By the opening of training camp, they want him back at about 230, roughly his playing weight as a UR senior. We have four RBs on the depth chart but the FO likes what they see from Tutt....so do alot of fans. Does he make the team or at least the practice squad? TC can't get here fast enough!
Bet he doesn't make the team. Gotta see him in preseason. Otherwise he's a rendition of Little John Flowers.
based on measurable it seems that he could be a good player. however hes never played RB before so who knows how it'll turn out. Personally im hoping he makes it and they get rid of blalock, leavin us with martin washington and houston and tutt on practice squad or sumthin.
I doubt it. Curtis Martin, Cedric Houston and Derrick Blaylock are all gonna stick. 4 RB's would be alot. He could certainly make the Practice Squad if he impresses though.
In lower levels of college and high school where teams usually lack talent they put their best athlete as the QB to give them the best chance to win. Doesn't mean they can't play any other position.
:lol:It could have been a calculated move by his parents - if you want you're son to be a big athletic type, just give him a common girls name. Hell it worked for Ashley Lelie and Stacy Mack.
Well that was brilliant. Blaylock will get his money either way, but it will be the Jet's cap number that will take a hit if they release him now.
