It was prior to Halloween the last time he managed to compile double digit completions in a game. Simms nearly got there in one half with no practice with the ones but hey - let's go back to the well one more time.
Going in blindly with a yes. Nick Foles had 7 touchdowns so here is to hoping we can complete 10 passes
I say he goes 13-20 1 td 0 ints Ivory Rushes for 103 and 2 tds ,I cant throw in towel yet its like the blind leading the blind
The Raiders have a few DBs who will jump routes so i can easily see Geno throwing a few INTs and getting benched at halftime. We desperately need Kerley back this week and to stop being so conservative and just let Geno play. If he throws a few INTs, so be it but this conservative bull shit isn't doing any better.
Whoever is making this call to keep Smith as starter and not see what Simms can do with a week of prep should be fired. Smith had a Preseason and 12 starts to be ready and has the WORST QB rating in the NFL, and worse than any Sanchez EVER had. Simms with NO reps or prep has outplayed Smith but Rex is doing the same thing with Smith as he did with Sanchez. Rex needs to go and if the GM is calling this shot it just proves he is nothing more than a money manager and shouldn’t be the GM.
it is definitely the GM protecting the second round choice they have invested. remember they have put in the time and effort with smith since early september and to pull the plug now would send a more harsh message to the football world and the jets want none of that. not saying i agree cause at some point u have to bite the bullet and say F it. i dont think we have seen the last of simms but honestly he will have to perform better than he did (i know its limited time and all) to get back into the QB conversation.
The Jets management is trying to develop a long term solution at QB. Geno's QB rating isn't really relevant. Simms being able to outplay him at this point really isn't relevant. If management believes Geno has a shot to be a top quality NFL QB, management has to develop him as they see fit. If that means playing him that's the right move. If it means sitting him that's the right move. Stats have zero to do with it.
They need to just let him finish the season then decide during the off season which direction they go with the QB position.
Do completions to the Raiders count? If so, maybe he reaches 10 with 6 to Jets, 4 to Raiders. Otherwise, no. No way.
We all know Geno can't get the 10 completion milestone done. However, I still believe the punt or kick on first down/other team can't throw past 5 yards can result in a win. That would be a more realistic goal at this point.
