Although the Jets' FO is so dysfunctional that it would not surprise me if they cut Tebow on Saturday , or had him inactive Sunday, I think he could get a shot this weekend. 1. Ryan is a liar but he mentioned they want to include a Tebow package for the game. 2. It makes sense to play him for an extended period to potentially increase his value. As an example if he goes in and craps the bed nothing is lost, the Jets were cutting him without compensation in any case after the season is over (the consensus here anyway) Now If he goes in and shows flashes of his good moments in 2011, then his potential value increases for a possible trade. This is all assuming its not up the middle bull rushes but spread option or pistol offense formations. It makes no sense to just burn a team asset on the bench for no good reason, specifically if the season is over anyway.
The Jets and Rex are so dysfunctional that literally nothing would surprise me. Bart Scott may be playing QB at the end of the game. Can't wait.
I'd be surprised if Tebow is even activated. If he comes in, plays well, pulls the game out, etc., Rex is left trying to explain why he didn't go to him sooner when the season might have been saved. McElroy is the easy way out for Rex to avoid that unpleasant discussion. That's all.
Tebow is most-likely inactive. If he is active, Greg McElroy better have the game of his life because here we go again.
Don't kid yourself. Jets know there is little choice but to cut him. Makes no sense keeping him around and ANYONE who MIGHT have an interrest in him is well aware of that. There isn't a lot that can be done in the next couple games with the game plan that will make Tebow look good enough to increase his "value." What, you gonna turn a 7th rounder in to a 6? His value hasn't done anything but plummet and the Jets don't appear to want anything more than to move on from that mistake. I also think the chances of Tebow coming in there, winning the games, and looking good are next to zero. Even if you don't buy that he is a TERRIBLE quarterback... they'll never come in with a more Tebow friendly playbook. And even if they did, the Jets don't have the horses for it on offense. He'd be set up to fail either way. Best thing for Tebow is to not make things worse by playing the last 2 games. Best to start fresh... if anyone will take him, that is.
Actually they're about average, maybe a little less than average depending on how the last two games go. The defense is very good, the offense and QB's are terrible. Tebow is the worst of the 3 QB's. Some day that will sink in for you guys. I doubt he even gets another chance at QB in the NFL unless he disappears to Canada for several years first. Even then, it's doubtful.
You are right I'll amend my previous comment. "Jets have a terrible front office " please argue that one...
OMG ITS SLAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where have you been man? Posting under jetsetter34? Good to have Larry back with Moe and Curly. You have been missed slap, I mean that. The anti-holy triumvirate of hate was not the same without you. I think if Tebow shows flashes of 2011, he can be traded for a draft pick and even a 7th is better than just cutting him.
That terrible front office has been more successful than the Cowboys the past decade, but I agree they're terrible - that's why they were one of 2 teams willing to trade for your hero. That doesn't change the fact that Tebow is a terrible QB and will likely never have another shot at being an NFL QB.
Doesn't the same apply to McElroy? If he comes in and looks good they won't question Rex for not starting him?
