With $20 million in cap space now available, it seems to me that the Jets should sign Abraham. They have the money and he will want to be here if he gets his long-term deal. It makes no sense to get rid of a proven pro-bowl pass rusher now that so much money has been freed up.
I would love too, however he said he wants out that he has "been disrespected by the organization". He'd be great for the 3-4 OLB pass rushing role and 4-3 DE, but he wants out, so let him go.
Abe wants to get paid. If the Jets were to offer him a long term contract I am sure he would get over being "disrespected"
whats up jetfanintampa, i'm in tampa to, anyways abe has already said he doesnt want to be a jet, if you remember at mangini's hiring he said he wanted guys that want to be here
Thats all I needed to hear...as a fan or a team mate you dont want a guy who only wants to go where the money is...go screw yourself abe
With some of his comments within the last month, I think he basically burned his bridges with the Jets.
um i might sound like an idiot but what exactly does the franchise tag do? i think that it means that he cant enter free agency or something and i was told that it makes the player better to be traded. help
No way in hell does John Abraham want to sign a contract with a team switching to a 3-4. They'd stand him up and make him a linebacker and he'd take a huge paycut. No fricking way does he sign anything but a 20 million dollar signing bonus to stay. John Abraham is gone, and while I do recognize his talent, he might not be the best fit for a 3-4 anymore. He's beyond molding.
It'd be very nice to keep him, but for the money he will command along with the POSSIBILITIES of Denver giving the Jets their 29th overall pick or the Lions scenario, of #9 for Abe and a 3rd, I think he's a goner. One thing JWWS...You constantly have defended Abe over the last few years, expecially for the playoff scenario missing games last season...And always mention him, not a bad thing at all, but what is your passion towards him?
More like e couldn't we just resign Mawae. Abe is just too much a pain in the ass. It's allready over anyway. Ba bye Abe...
He's a me-first guy, and really not needed in the clubhouse. He's an excellent player, but I think its time for this franchise to move on.
With the new NFL labor deal,it makes it easier to trade John Abraham.More teams will be involved which will only increase the price/return for the Jets
Exactly, and those are the types of players that Mangini is trying to weed out. That's what he's been around with BB so that's what he's going to do.
Calling Mawae a me first guy is ignorant. He's a class act and him and Curtis have been the 2 guys that have acted like professionals when NO ONE else in the organization has. He's been one of the only consistent bright spots on our team and I can't understand why any Jets fan would say anything bad about him. I don't agree with bad mouthing Abraham either. He's very talented and wants a long term deal just like anyone else. I don't know of a single player that has been franchised more than once without complaining about it. He might not fit in with the direction the team is going in, but I don't think its right to call him a me first player. I agree that the best move for the Jets is probably to trade him for a first round pick, but that has more to do with the Jets needing to fill so many holes rather than Abraham not being a team player.
Why would u want someone on the team that doesnt want to be here, just doesnt make sense hes gonna cause more problems. We dont need that in the new jets era.
