Ohio State ILB James Laurinaitis says he didn't play in the Senior Bowl because he caught the flu "the week before."

He plans to participate in February's Combine, but pulling out of the Senior Bowl is widely frowned upon and the excuse was suspect. Laurinaitis may need an outstanding Combine to solidify a first-round selection in the draft.

I'll bet he's running 40 times like a glacier and he wanted the extra training for the Combine.

Laurinaitis is an enigma to me. I can't get a good feel for him and if he's going to be successful in the NFL. I've seen most of his entire career(I live in Col, OH) and he played lights out his Soph and Junior year. His Senior year was good, but he seemed to be a step slower and get engulfed by blockers. I don't buy the Flu crap, I never heard one word from the local media that he was ill.

I'm not a Buckeye hater, I'm a College football fan. Many people feel I have an agenda against Buckeye players, since my wrath for Gholston is well known last year at this time. DWARE and I have gotten into heated discussions last year. I love Jenkins and believe he's going a great player. Was a huge Mangold fan, I was a huge AJ Hawk fan and still believe his best days are yet to come.

The "Little Animal" cost himself alot of coin not coming out last year. I'm not against drafting Laurinaitis, if he's available, just not my one of my top choices. My feelings are just Lukewarm for JL.

I'm with WW85 completely. I think Laurinaitis is a very smart player, but I'm not sure if he's athletic enough to be a starter, or to even stay in the league. He's always been overrated, but at least over the previous few years he put up the game to match some of it. This year, he was not good. Him winning any award, much less BTDPOY is a travesty.

He was on Bubba’s Tampa show this morning; said he skipped the senior bowl because he had the flu the week before and was still not up to snuff. Sounded like a really down to earth, intelligent kid…I liked him.

Did you know his dad was the animal from WCW? Forgot who his uncle is but he’s Vince’s right hand man…the main booker.

I think everyone knows that...that's why his nickname is "Little Animal".

First, I'm not an OSU apologist. I think you're being too harsh on OSU players. There have been some dam good ones and some lousy ones.

AJ Hawk is NOT a bust, had an off year. S. Holmes, Michael Jenkins, Anthony Gonzo, Mangold are a few recent very good players.

As much as I dislike Gholston and believe he's not going to make it, I'll give him a pass and see what Rex can do with him, I'm not hopeful.

Bobby Carpenter was overrated and never had the physical ability to become an outstanding linebacker in the NFL.

    Clarett.....Not even going there.......He's a thug.

I'm predicting Robiskie will be a good receiver like his former teammates.

Lumping all OSU players into one class/Terrible is a mistake.
