He is a VERSATILE, TOUGH runner... with experience at FB and RB. He catches well out of the backfield and had no problem shouldering the load behind Houston's shxtty Oline in place of Dom Davis last year. I am sure we can sign him on the cheap and he is a similar player to what we lost in LaMont Jordan.
Now thats an idea... this guy is an absolute beast. 6'1" 250. A potential workhorse. If the FO really wants to acquire another RB then this is the way I would go.
I was suggesting this back before the draft (not on this board) before we had any idea CMart was done. Ohio State RBs are typically powerful runners, with the exception of Clarrett.
I don't know, given how much trouble he was giving the cops, SloMo might be a pretty tough runner, too.
Nobody picked up Wells, yet? He was the captain of the Texans special teams and he is a good guy. He's only got a 3.1 career rushing average. Doesn't fumble too much. 2 fumbles in 212 touches the past two seasons. I don't think he could carry the load for a full season.
Team captain, versatile, tough - "Hello, Coach Mangini we have an idea..." 3.1 ypc behind the Texans Oline = 3.5+ behind a good Oline He could handle 20 touches per game, 15 carries and 5 receptions... plus the versatility to lineup in a 2 back set and block like a FB. Allowing us to show different looks with Leon and Cedrick as well. The key is he has good hands and can block/pass protect.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind the Jets signing him. But don't think he's going to carry the ball 280 times this year. He could be a good role player.
I like this idea. We need role players not starters and we got 2 burners in blaylock and washington. We need more of a power runner. If we had wells, houston, blayloack and washington then hope at least 1 guy steps it up
We don't need people who don't actually read what the thread is about making mundane contibutions to it either...
