Why does the media treat the Jets win over the Patriots as if it were meaningless?

They waxed us by six touchdowns the last time we played.

That was before everything on the Patriots began to click. They also thoroughly destroyed us in the most recent meeting.

Do you expect everyone to consider us equal in strength just because we're tied in the season series?

The pats are firing on all cylinders, the jets are misfiring on almost all cylinders.

They are already saying the Pats are SB champs on WEEI.

    F the Pats.

The same reason we as Jets fans would have brushed off an early season win by the Patriots over us if we then turned into a completely different team and pretty much streamrolled everyone to a 14-2 record to close out the season. Oh yea, and having a 3-time SB winning QB lead the way helps.

Think of everything that's happened in the NFL since Week 2. It's ancient history at this point. Even the more recent game will be meaningless if these two teams play again. That's just how it works.

I wouldn't take it as a slight on the Jets. If the Patriots were matched up against, say, the Chargers this week, the same would apply. (Meaning the previous match-up would hold no weight.)

Not at all. But on the other hand, it IS possible to beat this Patriots team, something the media refuses to acknowledge.

Exactly. What good would it do if we got a gold star for the week 2 game? We'd be in exactly the same position we are in now. Win playoff games or go home.

EDIT - And by the way, if the Jets beat the Pats in 2 weeks, everyone will forget about them killing us earlier this year.

I'm glad New England got the bye, it may be the only thing that can slow their momentum right now, crazy as that sounds.

NE are actually ridiculously good after bye weeks in the Belichick era.

As stated above, NE's O is very different than in week 2. I bet that the picks Brady threw trying to force it in to Moss during that game was mainly what caused them to trade him and rethink their O.

Here's what drives me crazy about that ...
After they kicked our ass all I heard all week was Brady & Belichick ... Belichick and Brady ... blahblahblah ...
They got all the credit for that win.

Well, weren't those two guys also there when we beat them????
People act like they took the week off.

True, I just think if they keep playing every week right now the way they are they would steamroll all the way through the Super Bowl. Maybe a bye slows them up a bit, none of their opponents have managed to do so and they've played some good teams. Can't hurt.

If we face them they'll be the favorite because they're playing great football, will be at home, and have a Coach-QB tandem that has won 3 Super Bowls and have been to 4, plus they've owned the Jets.

Not exactly sure why you're surprised by any of this.

This always seemed to plague the Colts, now that I think about it (the only time they won the SB with Manning was when they had to go the WC route).

I bet Belichick will have NE in full pads outdoors all week, however, and will play the game that Cleveland beat them down about 75 times for them...

He'll definitely have them ready, especially if we're the opponent because it's so familiar. I just don't know how they can be any more ready then they were the last time, if anything all that MNF film would help us. Anything to slow them up right now to me is a plus, if they had to play this week they'd just keep rolling.
