    - Brodney Pool has talent (drafted in the 2nd round + 11 INTs in the NFL on a crappy team in a good division)

    - B.P. only had 1 concussion, all the other times it was migraines just like the ones Percy Harvin has.

    - Last year E. Smith proved he can be a capable FS... not a ball-hawk but competent. Many of us wanted him to start instead of Rhodes.

    - We have a VERY good CB core... our nickel, dime and extra CB are Wilson, Lowery and Warren for christ's sake!

    - Lowery and Warren are both suited to be CB/FS...

    - We put A LOT of pressure on the QB!

Having said that of course I wouldn't be against bringing in an upgrade like Sharper... but if you look at the talent we have available in the back end of the D I think we are in an excellent position to succed straight away!

Sure we don't have a big name FS like Ed Reed but neither did the Ravens have such big name corners like the ones we have... I dare anyone to pass against a secondary composed of Revis, Cromartie, Leonhard and Lowery + Wilson as a nickel... even his Peytoness himself!

agree, every sports guy is pretty high on this guy. he is young and talented and in rexes defense i think he can shine. plus it doesnt hurt that we have 3 corners who are great man to man and will need little help with over the middle

I suppose we don't need one, but it definitely seems like the weak link of our defense. Therefore, it's not crazy to want to upgrade it.

    +1 This

I dont have any complaints with Eric Smith, and Broodney Pool sounds like a solid player...BUT we have been raving about Eric Smith for the last couple of years and he never seemed to have significant playing time even when Abe Elam was the opposite safety if Smith and Pool work out fantastic. But like Jam said its not crazy to want an upgrade

I think it's the weak link of our DB... which is the best part of the D.
the weak link is the ??? regarding the DL.

As I have said in my post I wouldn't mind an upgrade (I would be happy with an upgrade at any position really) it's just that a need is a different thing imo.

Pool will be a fine starter for us, but if the opportunity to add Sharper presents itself, we have to bring him in. He has the potential to make our secondary one of the best of all time. He gives us that guy who is a established ball hawk who has the ability to take any INT all the way.

If we can add him, we have no choice he could be the last piece that puts us over the top. If we can't add him, Pool will still be an upgrade over Rhodes, but he isn't on Sharper's level.

I disagree. We have Jenkins (a beast of a defensive lineman, we all know that) and Ellis (a very solid, dependible player) on our three man front. Sure, the spot opposite Ellis is up for grabs, but throw in the fact that Rex's defensive scheme works even without elite players (remember, our defense got BETTER after Jenkins got injured...) and I don't see it as a big problem.

If I remember correctly, the main piece people wanted to see drafted was defensive line DEPTH, not defensive line starters. They (myself included) wanted someone to rotate in for Jenkins and possibly hold down the fort if he got injured again.

Brodney Pool does have talent...And a history of injuries.

Not for nothing but I'm on the James Ihedigbo bandwagon.

    1. I really think all we need is a safety with average skills and talent who will listen to what Jim Leonhard tells him.

    2. Time for a new sig Mambo?

    1. Haha agreed :p

    2. Yup, I need to change it ;) I didn't even take into account Wilson would still be available otherwise he'd have been on it... oh well.

I'm not worried about FS, its not an important position in Rex's scheme. CBs are more important to him and we got a pretty damn good core of those right now

I don't think we need a fs as much as people would love to have sharper fill the spot.

It wasn't last season, because a certain person couldn't be relied upon to make the tackle.
What worries me about Pool is that I (nor anyone else) can specifically nail his condition, migraines and concussion(s) , how many times and how long it affects him.
If we could blend Pool and Smith together somehow, we have a good FS. Smith is a hitter, Pool is coverage.
A decent QB and gameplan will go after the FS in zone coverage, even some man situations.
I do not like our position on FS as it stands right now.

If you believe what Brodney Pool say's, he claims to have actually only had one concussion in his career, the other head related conditions that kept him out of games were migraine headaches! maybe he has a sim. condition that Percy Harvin?

Poole addressed those reports saying he only suffered one concussion (his rookie year) and after that he just had migraines problems (ala Harvin) and he's currently recieving cure for those.

See, this is where I have the problem, what he says and what has happened.
There are any number of reports about him and his 'medical condition'.

I hope for his sake hes being honest.

This speaks volumes to me when team mates are concerned,
