Usually I dont post this time of year because Im so tired of reading everyones threads and responses on the Draft and who they are infatuated with...some of this obsession is actually sickening...but i found reason to post when i read a comment on a thread about us not having any primetime games... It was only 1 year ago that we were considered to be a legit Superbowl Contender...now i know you are all shakign yoru heads right now...im not gonna say that we are but to go so far fetched to downright say that we suck is sickening...we had so many injury issues last year that hurt us, it would have hurt most teams in the NFL....Sure Chad is no Tom Brady...He might not even be a Trent Green, but if you were to take say Trent away from the Cheifs (figutively speaking), one of their KEY components of the O line like Mawae was to us...and a playmaker or 2 , like Barton and Martin...can you honestly say that that team is not going straight down the Shitter? I personally feel we arent going to win anything big this year...no superbowl and the playoffs are a little bit of a reach, it is possible but not likely...how can you say we suck though when all we have to do is add a few offensive playmakers, a healthy QB ( chad still can do it i feel, but this is his last chance) and a O lineman or 2? we still have the draft and obviously that is what we are targeting...Our Offense was never so bad until Chad went down...but as soon as this happened, i heard the crying and whining of Jet fans all the way out here in San Jose, Ca...thats how bad it is...so why cant the jets be a team that is not looked to be in the cellar...Our Defense still is legit even after losing J Abe...and we have Tangini...the ultimate Tandum that has made our offseason worth watching...so someone please tell me why this team is only destined to suck this year!
Says here that you joined in July 2005. If you weren't posting this time of year up until now, I'd say it has more to do with your not being a member.
Well, one reason is pressure on the QB. If you watch the Jets, you know that for years the only player they had that could even get close to the opposing QB was Abraham...and he's gone. The second reason is the OL. That was the strength of the team over the last few years. Then Kareem got signed away, Fabini turned into a turnstile and Mawae got hurt. Now the second two are off the team. Thirdly, you have to look at the QB position. If Chad can't go Ramsey is the man. Is he any good? I don't know, does anybody? No, not for sure. Fourth, would be age at starting RB So, those are my top issues heading into the draft. Obviously they will address them based on need and players available, but they won't solve all of them this year, I don't think.
I have to say he has a good point, We lost so many players last year and its true our O-line was getting old in the tooth, but with the right choices in the draft and a couple of above average FA's we should be OK. SUCK I dont think so, Playoffs Well -> who's to say what happened to us last year wont happen to other teams ( Hopefully in our Division LOL ) and we could be in the thick of it again. The beautiful thing about the NFL is you just dont know until they play the games. SO I will go into this new season with hope as I have for the past ( OH GEEZE ) 30 yrs.
I wouldnt call Chad's arm, not even strong enought to take a hit "full strength" and SundayJack...i dont post this time of the year as in i have stayed off the boards as of recent due to people crowding the boards with their cries of who we should pick...it has nothing to do with previous years...btw...props to you...you post some funny shit!
its only a matter of time before people start changing their minds on what they think is going to happen...Come draft day a good portion of this board is going to be saying our draft was so great and they cant wait for the Jets to start the Season...i can just see it now <-----this point is that we as NYJ fans are so quick to jump the gun and say we are going to be great ( last off season) to we are gonna suck ( this season) its always one extreme or the other!

I agree there is no way we are gonna be another 3-5 win team in 06. Jets in 06, right it down. We are taking the division this year and are gonna make a run at XLI.
I don't think the Jets are going to suck this year. I think they're going to have a fighting chance. I think it's way to early to adopt any standpoint about whether we're going downhill/uphill or anything like that. There is a small chance that Chad will be the same qb that he was in 2002/2003/2004 before he got hurt. It's possible, but not likely. If that is the case, then I think this team has a good shot of making the playoffs. I think a lot more hinges on chad than anyone wants to admit, we had a winner for awhile, and you could see on the field that we were always competetive -- once he went down, being in each game went with it. It's all on the qb as far as I'm concerned. I know the o line is technically in shambles, but that kind of stuff can turn around quickly with different coaching, and some new blood. As for the d line, I don't think the d that mangini is installing is going to focus on one dominant edge rusher. Maybe that was the case in the past, but it isn't going to be for the future.
