Apparently, it's not going to be Kendall. I just read a quote wherein Mangini said they're going to "figure it out" when asked abou the center position -- but he said he plans to play Kendall at guard...

Is anyone else feeling Nick Mangold at #29?

Mangold at 29 would be the perfect fit...right before a team like the Steelers or Saints try to pick him up. Hopefully he can come right in and start immediately. But I do think that our 29 is indeed reserved for Mangold

It definitely has that feeling to it doesn't it? If not him, people are saying we have a backup plan in norm katnik I believe... I think that's a stretch, but you never know.

I know where katnik came from, but are you trying to tell me that this guy is going from practice squad to starter in one season? If he's such a dynamic talent, how come we're the only ones who took notice?

If Mangold is available at 29, I think it would be hard to pass him up unless, they are planning to go with Katnik or they like someone else they could get in the 3rd or 4th round. I think it also depends on what they do with the 4th pick. If they draft Ferguson they may draft a defensive player with 29. I dont know if they would use both 1st round picks on the OL.

If we stay at 4 and 29 and if Nick Mangold is available at 29, I don't think it will be hard for the Jets to pick this guy. We have an obvious hole there and this is a guy that could probably start day one.

I've seen a few mocks with Mangold going to Jax at 28!! Wouldn't that be a bitch?

Meester(LS) & Romberg are decent players. IMO, Jax will go for Cromartie, if he falls to #28, they need another CB. Mathis is JAX only quality CB.

Actually, no one noticed because he was on the Practice Squad with San Francisco when Scott Gragg was on that team. When Gragg joined the Jets, he let them know how much potential Katnik had....so the Jets signed him up.

Gragg might have been old in the tooth when he came here, but I feel confident in his recommendation, and I'm glad he helped us steal some potential talent for our o-line. Katnik did start at center for the Trojans, so he can't be that bad. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the preseason.

Jets cut Kevin Mawae and get a 29th pick for John Abraham. John Abraham plus Kevin Mawae equals Nick Mangold, maybe... He'd better be the next Mike Webster for what they will have paid.

Kevin Mawae doesn't really enter into it since he sucked last year and probably doesn't make the team this year.

I don't think Mawae suck last year. He got injured early, and before that, he played well. It was not a great year for him, but he was still good. And I think if the FO is more confident about Katnik than mangold or another C in the draft, they should give him a chance. From what I heard he built up some weight, which was the main reason he didn't make it in the NFL.

I loved Mawae but you can't be serious. He was awful before he got hurt last year. Good move cutting him, he wouldn't have been anything more than a distraction.

Along those lines, I couldn't believe what the titans gave him contractually -- and I was also shocked at how the media reacted to the signing. They were praising the titans up and down and talking about how he solidified the O line for them and they're going to get another good 2 or 3 years out of him (!)-- the dude is 35 going on 36, and had a horrible 2005... what makes them think he's going to rebound?

    Weird.
