one of the reporters in todays press conference brought up a good point on how they almost always hit on players in the draft, wallace as a number 1, he leaves and sanders goes off, he leaves and brown becomes one of the best in the NFL then wheaton is not working out and bryant comes in and is doing damage. and thats just WR... look at bell hes one of the best backs in football right now, they always have a good defense.

In my eyes they always seem to loose players and the next man up comes in a plays well, someone there knows how to build a team and if a lot of that falls on anyone who is not the GM (as obviously hes not leaving) this person needs to get a call.

PS is it Omar Khan? I really dont know. says he is director of football administration, not sure how the hierarchy of football management works.

Omar khan is their cap guy, he was a finalist for our job along with idzik.

Dan Rooney JR is listed as player personnel coordinator and Phil Kreidler, College Scouting Coordinator... dont know anything about these guys but seriously who ever is in charge of who they sign and who they draft is doing a great job, hopefully its someone we can grab (i.e not the current GM)

They've certainly hit on their wide receiver picks and Lev Bell...I don't think they've done particularly well in other spots during recent years though. Having Ben and those skill players have masked a lot of ills.

Omar Khan is prob their version of John Idzik, very good with contracts and cap space - not as good in player evaluation. Those are the other guys. Steelers had some issues with the cap, but it appears to be much better since Khan came along.

Attributing these successes to the front office is one way to look at it, and I don't disagree. But I personally think it is more reflective of the organization broadly... including in no small way the coaching staff.

The problem I have always had with the Jets -- and it was evident no more than when WJ hired a GM with limited freedom to choose a coach -- is that the organization as a whole is run piss poor.

its not two weeks, honestly his FA signings I can forgive, as some of them have been great. but you simply can not have someone running this franchise who has 12 picks in a draft and only has 2 of them playing.

struggling teams in the NFL only get better through the draft and if the steelers had 12 picks I have a feeling they would get some talent. injuries are one thing but mcdougle had tons of injuries in college (same as milliner) and he picked saunders and evans in the 4th meanwhile the steelers 4th round WR has like 5 TDs so far... i bet if someone looked at it you could probably find a player in from rounds 3 to the end of the draft and probably find a player in each round that has done something this year or ATLEAST still remains on the roster..

They hit, but they also have Ben - who possibly helps those offensive guys out a little bit.....maybe

One of the Steelers biggest problems has been instability along the offensive line which may be a red flag in their talent evaluation.

Ben does hold onto the ball longer than your average NFL quarterback which doesn't help but knowing a couple of Steelers fans myself none of them have been satisfied with the offensive line in pass protection specifically in a long time. They draft offensive lineman every year too.

It's tough to pull front office people from franchises like the Steelers, Ravens, and Packers. They all promote from within and have ownership that treats them well enough to the point where they don't look for the glory of a higher titled job in a big time pressure market like New York. This year is a good example of why they wouldn't want to make the jump as Idzik has only had about a year and a half of having his scouting staff and player personnel in place and he already has a billboard up by the fans calling for his head whether it's warranted or not.

The week to week reactionary assessments, rash judgments, and sweeping generalizations made about the state of the league is generally quite amusing.

Two weeks??? What planet are you on? It's November and our sole win is against the winless Raiders.

They've been particularly poor in selecting defensive talent. Though, I will say that Cameron Heyward has really come on. Jarvis Jones is meh.

Sorry Im not aware of every single post on this message board...that may or may not even exist.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would be asking for the Steelers anything before their game against the Colts though.

    More flavor of the week.
