I was in utter shock when the Jets blocked the FG. (Who even blocked it?)

Honestly, a lot of people posting in the gamethread were hoping for a blocked FG. I was just hoping that he missed it.

yea i think thomas blocked it goin up the middle, and vilma picked it up, i didnt even wacth, i was so pissed at that drive.

  5. I think the last time the jets blocked a FG was in a game against the Colts in 97. Aaron Glenn returned the loose ball for a 99 yard TD

I'm pretty sure Bryan "we coulda drafted Ed Reed" Thomas blocked it. Guy is really stepping up this year. I completely know what you were feeling after the block.

Vilma got the block, but if you watch the one replay, its one of the interior lineman that got their hand on it, then it tipped off Vilma's.

For some reason, I had a feeling we were going to block it. I don't know why. Too bad we didn't recover the ball cleaner to set up a better return.

The Aaron Glenn play you are thinking of was in '98 and it was a missed FG not a blocked FG. The FG was short and Glenn caught it in the EZ.

Vilma should have left the ball alone and we would have gained 10-11 yds as the ball would have come out to the 20 instead of starting at the 9. Either way it probably didn't make a difference but that is a little mental error.

  14. I thought the same thing about Vilma..but I think his thoyght process was that he was afraid that the ball would not reach the end zone and the Pats would take their time in downing the ball..leaving us w/o enough time to drive downfield.

Once the ball dies the whistle blows so it's not like NE can keep wasting time before it's downed. He also probaly thought he could pick it up and get a good return out of it. At that point in the game it may have been a worthy gamble.

Yea, i was at the game. My uncle wanted to leave to beat the traffic when the pats got the first down inside the 5 I think. We were 1/2 way to the car when we heard the stadium erupt and we looked over at a car where a drunk guy screamed "They blocked the ****ing field goal!!!!!" at this point i was pissed and it made for not a good ride home. Im never leaving a game early again.

    B. Thomas clearly snaked in and blocked it. On the replay you see his agility. He is really stepping up.
