W.Chrebet was the ultimate cult hero. Undersized, small school. undrafted, had no chance etc, etc, etc....

    my prediction:

    Leonard Pope
    Georgia

    HEIGHT 6'8 !!!!!!!!
    WEIGHT 260
    40 TIME 4.65

Pros:"Unheard of" height and uses it to his advantage, uses his body well, hard to out-jump, a big mismatch, can and will stretch the field, massive hands that don't drop many passes.

OK OK!!...I know he's not an underdog type player BUT! he would be an instant fan favorite!
He will wash away years of ineptitude at the TE position!
    He's HUGE!
He would be an unexpected Jet pick (#29 or35?)
He would snatch all of Pennington's softball lobs over the middle.
He would be our Shockey..but BIGGER-- BADDER--- BETTER!!!

THE FANS WOULD LOVE HIM AS HE RUNS OVER OPPONENTS!!

I predict we 1)draft him 2) he becomes a star...3) reaches Jet CULT STATUS!!

I think we already have him- Ben Graham

It's only a matter of time before the coverage on a PR is blown and Graham ends up "clotheslining" the guy at the 50...

maybe he will be a fan favorite, but pope is everything chrebet isn't...he will be a high round selection and is not a local boy hero, i really don't see the comparison at all

I am a GG newbie so be gentle. As a lifelong skins fan, I have to believe that Saint Patrick could very well be it. I won't eat much of your time up here clearing up some misconceptions about PR; or how my beloved redskins have royally screwed this young man. What I will say is that if the jets can get solid in the line department, this guy will make you very happy. He is smart, tough and keeps his mouth shut. He has a cannon and is more mobile than anyone gives him credit for. The '03 season he started wonderfully. 5 games into the season he was the leading passer in football with the leading receiver, LC. Spurrier's lack of protection got him killed and severely injured his foot. He played on until game 11, when the dolphins rushed only 3 guys and 2 of them killed him. Pat is great in the red zone and fourth quarter, given the chance. I foresee St. Patrick and the green getting along very well together. That is as long as you do not use #4 on a QB. Here is my first official J-E-T-S, Jets Jets Jets. Thanks guys.

Physically he can do it. It's whether or not Spurrier and Gibbs messed up the mental state of Ramsey past the point of fixing.

Yep, that is why drafting a QB kills him. Spurrier shook his body, not his confidence. Gibbs got hired and every sports show told Pat to get ready for canton. Gibbs was the best thing for him. Gibbs then immediately goes hunting for Brunell (42 million dollars later), and does this before he even looked at the game tapes of PR. I heard him admit that. How do you do that? Anyway, if Pat's head is in this, the jets are set.

rockjet how can you say that kendell pope will be the next cult hero with your definition saying that it is someone from a small school undersized, etc. He went to GEORGIA, member of the SEC not only a major school and conference but usually contends for a spot in the BCS Bowls yearly. Second of all he is not undersized for a TE and i think he is one of the top 5 TE's in the draft.

Ben Graham has that job locked up. The guys an undrafted free agent, Australian, he kicks the ball a mile and he's a decent tackler. No brainer. I'd throw myself in front of a bus if the Jets draft another Tight End high. The last three were disasters (A. Becht, Kyle Brady and J. Mitchell).

This is too easy. Ian Smart, walk on free agent kick returner from St. Johns. You'll see.
