Can you talk about what it was like leading up to and the switch and also how the jets chant worked?

The chant was lame. Definitely missed Fireman Ed. When Rex yanked Sanchez it was like a new building. Total change in atmosphere.

fuck, that sucks. the chant is always so awesome on the opening kick off. whats with the fans that go to the games? why do they gotta be such pricks and make fireman ed not wanna come around anymore?

if the chant suffers we alll suffer.

The game was really quiet. People boo-ed whenever Sanchez walked on the field. When McElroy first started, there was a standing ovation and cheering.

now, sanchez should be man enough to block that sort of shit out and just play football, but damn, how do you expect a guy to play with confidence and pride when his home stadium is booing him?

Yeah they did... It was okay but spontaneous chants were better when we were winning.

Yeah... his first interception really set everyone off. It was kind of sad, really, because there was no excitement even when we were on defense until we scored the td.

crowd never turned real ugly against Sanchez or the Jets,,,I / we have seen it much worse in yrs past when the qb is playing as poor as Mark has and did today. When Mcelroy got up and started throwing people got on their feet I was one of them and cheered. People in my section for the most part were clueless why the crowd was up and cheering in fact many many of them thought Tebow might come in ,,,yes many of them.

When Mcelroy came in the place was electric,,,,no one sat down for that whole drive,,,,,,and when he threw it the place went nutz!

as a far as the chant,,,,the showed the letters on the jumbotron a handful of times and it was done,,,for the most part there was not much J e t s today,,maybe it had something to do with how badly the offence looked

Between the booing of Sanchez and the vitriol directed at Firemen Ed, I'm embarassed to be a Jets fan.

Not even the Kotite Years had me this disgusted.

The Booing of one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league has you more disgusted than you were while watching the abominable 4-32 ,(combined) Kotite-coached Jets (we already have more wins this year then that regime accumulated in it's entire two year history)? Really? And if so, . . .

    REALLY?

GnR "Sweet Child of Mine" was blasting when McElroy first came on the field. It's like they had his entrance all planned out.

I forogt about Fireman Ed and the chant until I read this post and the fans had every right to boo Sanchez. Rex was weeks to late in replacing him. He is awful, just horrible Once McElroy came in, the energy level in the seats and on the field went from 0-60 in 3 seconds. It was obvious that the team needed a change and fed off it. Glad we won, lets hope Rex makes the move and does not look back. We need to find out if we have another QB or we need to get another in the off season because we are stuck with the piece of crap one more year.

Loudest cheer of the day was definitely when McElroy took the field.

Someone needs to take over chant. It is the loudest the stadium gets. It was missing today.

it was amazing how the atmosphere changed when McElroy just started throwing with his helmet on the sidelines!

the jets need to come up with a more organized and planned out graphic to coordinate the J-E-T-S chant though. it doesn't work right now.

Yup....and I knew that we had bottomed out after the Kotite Disaster which led to Parcells.

Run out Rex and Mark....see you guys in 2016 when we contend again.

The chant was lame because they did it while there were maybe 8000 people in the stadium.

As to the OP's question the stadium was like a library the entire game, once Sanchez was pulled it absolutely erupted. The only time before that the stadium made noise was to boo Sanchez. The crowd has completely turned on him, I think he's done for good in New York.
