Who should Herm play?

  1. Damon Huard, because he'd be better for the team

    54.5%
  2. Trent Green, because he'd be better for the team

    36.4%
  3. Trent Green, because a starter shouldn't lose his job to injury

    9.1%

Pretty straightforward: once Trent Green returns from his injury, should Herm Edwards put him back into the lineup or should he stick with the hot hand and continue playing Damon Huard?

EDIT: The third choice implies that Huard would be better, but you don't think that Green should lose his job because he was injured.

I'd leave huard in, he can have back his job next season.

Another, good question, is damon huard a product of this system or is he a legit good qb in the nfl ?

Do you trade him in the off season, thinking that brodie croyle is more then likely a capable backup ?

Huard looks great on paper but in reality he has played terrible. He holds the ball to long and he fumbles the ball. he has had some huge fumbles this year costIng the Chiefs touchdowns. His fumle against Denver cost the Chiefs a win. His fumble against Arizona out the Chiefs down 14-0. His fumle last week ciost the Cheifs 7 points and I believe he had a big fumble against SD. The Chiefs are playing wit so much heart, emotion and tnthusiams (kind of like how the Jets used to play) they can win games if the QB just does not turn the ball over. The Cheifs withiut their top 3 offensive tackles, without Green and with a terrible defense really should be dead by now. The Chiefs have to be suprise of the season along with NO, Not because they were not good but because of their crippling injuries to the OL and QB.

All that being said bringing Green back is not without risk. But he gives them the best chance to not turn the ball over and win and a lot bigger upisde. Huard is playing the best he can right now and that its mediorce at best. What happens when he starts struggling with his passing and continues to fumble games away. Thank him, pat him on the back but bring in the QB that can give the Chiefs a chance at the playoffs. They play a ridicoully hard schedule and realistically will be lucky to win 8 or 9 games but they have a chance to be a playoff team with good QB play sort of how the Jets have a chance with their easy schedule with good QB play.

I haven't seen a single Chiefs game since Huard took over, but they as a team have done very well to this point with him so why fix what's not broken? I say stay with him as long as they keep winning.

I've heard that Huard is a free agent at the end of the year. Someone will pay him way too much based on a few games.

    Raiders?... lol

Huard is the answer right now.

5-1 without Green is pretty good.

5-3 without Green, Roaf and multiple others...

Herm for coach of the year!

He is certainly one of the two leading candidates along with the NO coach. But he won't win because KC's schedule is just to brutal. Denver and SD are arguably the two best teams in the league. He took Denver to OT and beat SD but he did with this with thier 3 best tackles not playing, essentially no offensive line, an inexpereinced QB who has at least one huge fumble per game, and no defense. The Chiefs should be lucky to have won 1 or 2 games right now. They really could have caved in and quit the season but they are overachieving because they are playing with great enthusiam, emotion and energy like the Jets used to play with.

It's sad to see the Chiefs playing so hard and the Jets playing with such low intensity. If the current Jets played this hard we could have 6 or 7 wins right now. I keep thinking of that John Abe commerical where the kid tells him the Jets will win the superbowl in 2006. With this easy schedule and a good coach we could have been a contender. What could have been. We are truly are a cursed franchise.

Bingo. And it's not like the team is playing around Huard, he has one of the best QB ratings, I think it's second behind Manning, and he may be their QB next year if Green retires, may as well see what ya got.

The bottom line is that it's probably irrelevant, because the Chiefs are going to live and die with Larry Johnson anyway. No matter who plays QB for them, LJ is going to get 25-35 carries a game and either the Chiefs will win on the ground or they will lose.

I am curious to see people's thoughts about a QB losing his job to injury though (considering what the Jets have gone through with Chad Pennington.)

You need to stop sniffing Herm's ass. he left us with a mess, and a rookie coach has us at 4-4. Don't cry for me Argentina. Herm took a Superbowl caliber team, and screwed with a great offense. Yet, people give him credit that Huard is playing out his head. And He has the benefit of having a top 5 RB.

Coach of the year in the AFC goes to ????

The NFC is a hands down lock, Sean Payton.

Superbpowl caliber team are you nuts, The 2002 and 2003 teams had arguably the worst talent in the NFL. We had 6 players starting on defense in both of those years that arguably could not make a real NFL teams roster. We had an awful offensive line, QB that could not throw longer than 7 yards and no WR's. We have been in rebuilding mode since 2002 because of Parcells cap problems forcing us to gut the team before the 2002 season. But despite being in rebuilding mode and having one of the youngest teams in the league Herm was able to keep the Jets not only above water but competitive. This years team is the best talent we have had since 2001.

Now if you mean thew Cheif's having a superbowl caliber offense, again you are nuts. The Cheifs top 3 tackes have been injured their offensive line has been terrible. I would rather have the Jets OL. KC's WR;s are below average andthe Jets are better. Pretty much every area of the Jets offense is better except RB and TE. They have not been able to run block or protect the QB. Huard holds the ball far to long and has at least one big fumble each game. Almost every game this year Huard's has cost KC a touchdown with a fumble. His raw number may be good but his overall play is not that good. What has made KC good has been their determination to run the bal which has opened up the passing game and the inspired play of their defense. Add in that the Cheifs have an absolutely brutal schedule and they really have no business winning more than 4-5 games this year. Most teams would have folded a long time ago with injuries like this. Every game the Cheifs have gotten a bit better. I doubt they will go far with their schedule but if they win their next two games they will have a chance to do something pretty special.

This years Jets team has not won a game against a real NFL team yet. Rather it is 0-3 against real NFL teams. Even in the games the Jets have won against the worst of the NFL they have done little to nothing to win rather they have benefited by these teams beating themselves. The Jets have played without any heart or effort. Only 3-4 or players show up each game. You can see the lack of preparation, effort and enthusiam in the defenses inability to tackle and hustle. Instead now we have KC overachieving each week. Our defense is heads and tails better than KCs but look at how much better KC plays because of their coach. Give Herm or any decent coach the Jets schedule and the Jets would have 6 or 7 wins. Give a normal coach the Chiefs schedule and injury problems and your looking at one to two wins max.

Face it we have overachived the last 5 years and now we are seeing whats it like to have bad coaching again. We may win 7-8 games in spite of the bad coaching but only because of a once in a life time schedule and Chad. Never again will we play 11 games against this bad again.

I find it quite sad to sad to see KC playing with so much emotion effort and heart each week when that team could be us. Sooner or later you may wise up and realize Herm and good QB play were the two things that were kept us out of last place the last 5 years. Unfortunatley watching the team play this year it appears we are in for many years of bad football. Woody cheaped out and refused to pay money for a real head coach and forced Herm out and brought in a K-mart Blue Light Special priced coach and now we are now paying the price. The only positive points from this year is Shottenheimer, Rhodes and Chad. The rest has been a disaster.

Now KC was a SB caliber team when they have amde 1 PO appearance in the last 8 years and haven't wona playoff game since 1993? add in losing Willie Roaf and another starter from the great Ol losing their PB blocking FB, losing their OC, losing their QB in week 1, losing other key players during the year and Herm has done an amazing job w/ KC this year. I realize most Jet fans hate him but why is it you guys can never give him any credit? he was successful here and afetr he left all we heard from Jet fans was how bad he was and how bad KC would be and yet KC in the toughest division in the NFL is a game back of 1st place.

I don't think many people expected Kansas City to suck this year. The feeling I got was that Herm is the luckiest 'new' coach, insofar as he is inheriting a 10 win team with one or two guys leaving and a whole offseason to replace them.

I think they've done well to bounce back from losing Green, but i wouldn't want Herm back here on account of it.

Yep he inherited a 10 win team missing it's best OL, OC, starting QB, PB FB and oh yeah that 10 win team is old and missed the playoffs last year and has missed it the last 2 years and 7 of 8 years.
