What do you guys think? Gholston is climbing up the Boards for Months now and i think there?s a good chance, that he could really go 1st overall. Parecells has two decitions to make, do i take a QB? If not, do i take Gholston or Long? There?s a good chance, that he doesn?t like Ryan enough to pick him with the top pick and when it comes down to Gholston and Long, Gholston will probably beat out Long in the private workouts. It?s basically motor vs. athletic ability then. Right now, i think Gholston goes 1st overall.
As you say he will have a tough choice. He would love to get out of that pick but that seems impossible. I agree he won't take Ryan but I think the pick will still be Long because of his motor, size, work ethic and high character marks. Gholston still has some questions about all three. He is also a 3-4 college product and played for Parcell's old buddy Al Groh in a pro style defense. Groh I am sure has put in the good word for him too.
Gholston?s a workout warrior and he seems to be a very good kid, when you read his interviews. So how is his work ethic and character in question? Did i miss something?
He was known to take a play off here and there and admits he hates to practice so I'm not sure where you get that from. Granted nobody likes to practice but you don't come right out and say it. These guys look for any negative they can find when you are talking about the #1 pick.
This isn't going to be an easy decision for Parcells / Ireland. Personally, I'd prefer that we go ahead and lock up QB Matt Ryan for the future. The Phinz QB situation over the last decade has been laughable, and this kid has all the tools to be a successful NFL QB in my opinion.... IN TUNA WE TRUST!!!
I still think they try and trade down if at all possible. But ww/ the lack of a sure thing blue chipper in this draft, they'll be forced to take someone. At this point i believe Chris Long will still be the pick based on his versatility and Parcells good relationship w/ long's former college head coach.
The only thing I do know in regards to the top pick is this is the worst possible year to have the top pick in the draft. I see it being very unlikely that they can trade down so in my eyes it comes down to how they feel about Ryan. If they think he could be the franchise QB that the team desperately needs than he is the no brainer pick, if they dont then they are forced to take Chris Long. One thing I am certain about(as certain as any fan can be) is that Gholston will not be the pick. I dont think Parcells is the type to get seduced by workout warriors.
I think the talent up at the top of this years draft is very strong, and what makes it a good year to have the number #1 overall pick, is the large variety of positions we can choose from when we're on the clock... I agree here. If Parcells / Ireland can't trade out, and aren't completely sold on Ryan being a future franchiser, they'll likely go with DE C. Long. Either way, I'll be very pleased.... You never know man, Gholston has been rising up the draft charts like crazy recently. There are many mocks out there considering him to be a better DE prospect than C. Long right now. The guy is a beast, and his only real knock is his willingness to finish off plays. I guess he's been known to slack at times....
Another retarded post by the Don-man...Coles complains about practice all the time and it really translates to the field
Based on what he's done in other drafts don't expect Parcells to pick Ryan. Ryan will go to Atlanta. The Tuna will probably pick Chris Long if he can't trade down.
I'm amazed that McFadden isn't even in the poll. I don't expect him to go #1 but I do expect him to go before Ryan, Ellis and Dorsey who are in the poll.
I think Parcells will pull the trigger and draft Ryan to be a franchise QB... if he doesn't I would most likely say C. Long would be taken. If they do take Ryan, I think C. Long will either be taken by the Rams or Oakland anyways, too bad
That won't be the reason why he is not the #1.. its because there are better draft prospects ahead of him... i agree with you though, as a rookie its ill-advised... wait until you have league respect to say that. If he saying things like that now, add in NFL experience and if he does as well as he should, he's gunna be a contract dispute problem for any team. Suggs-eqsue
