I'd bet neither team is in the championship game. Notre Dame has the hardest schedule in NCAA there is no way they go undefeated and I would be surprised if they onyl lost once. Ohio State returns 2 starters on defense. That should say enough, but Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa and Texas should prove to be tough competitors in the Big Ten and on Ohio State's schedule. I actually don't know who I like as I think USC has too many distractions and also lost too many players, same with Texas.
After reviewing the top 25, I think there is a good chance we will see an SEC team in the finals, either Auburn, Florida or LSU. Not sure about the other team, could be Big East or ACC though.
Auburn might do it. no way UF does though, their schedule is insane. their offense has no RB. and asking Leak to run in the spread offense within the SEC is stupid. hes undersized as is and SEC has the best defenses in NCAA IMO. check this 6 week schedule for the Gators Sat Sep 30 Alabama Sat Oct 7 LSU (HC) Sat Oct 14 at Auburn Sat Oct 28 Georgia Sat Nov 4 at Vanderbilt Sat Nov 11 South Carolina vandy is a guaranteed win, but 5 out of 6 weeks thats a real tough stretch.
i gotta go with Ohio State because even though they lost a lot on defense Tressel never seems to have a poor showing in that area. Troy Smith, Ted Ginn Jr., and the #1 running back recruit in the nation, Wells, will be too much to handle for any team.
Ohio state is going to run through their schedule like a japanese bullet train......my beloved buckeys will make it 2 championships in 4 years.....
Well, that would make it 2 in 5 years, but who's counting? This may surprise many of you, but I'm taking a chance on Tennessee this year. Of course, I have no money on it.
Kestahn Moore is the perfect back for the system. DeShawn Wynn struggles because hes more of a north/south downhill runner over a shifty guy who runs good draws and can catch like Moore. Not to mention its not like a running game is that essential in a spread offense. As long as they can block which all our backs can, then we'll be fine. The schedule is brutal though. Playing at Knoxville is going to be tough too.
I have LSU as this year's SEC team to make a serious run. They have talent at all the right spots, a pair of potential load carrying RBs, 2 good QBs (start Flynn), and 2 of the best SEC defenders in Highsmith and Landry.
I also like LSU and think they ccould run the table. they have talent everywhere. Also watch out for PSU..they have some major talent on both lines..
The NCAA would have to cheat and make another rule that favors Notre Dame for them to make it to the championship game, which, actually, doesn't seem so farfetched now..
I will never understand ND's overwhelming fan base and/or the media bias toward them.... It def. makes them pretty hateable though
The favorite this year is definitely Ohio State. Looking at who will be playing in the title game I can see Ohio State vs LSU. But I think Penn State will have a great shot to make some noise as well as the defending champion Texas Longhorns.
Ohio State is the most talented team in the country and maybe the best coached as well, but they have a tough road to the BCS which could complicate things for them. They still have to be the favorite though. The team to watch IMO is West Virginia. They are going to be written off by many because they play in the Big East but depending on how many dominos fall around the rest of the nation they may be one of the only undefeated teams left and by that virtue get put into the National Championship.
Are you kidding me? Every media outlet has been pimping them as the odds-on favorite to win it all. I'm pretty sure no one has written them off, except maybe Louisville fans. I don't think they are going to go undefeated because they always find a way to screw it up but I have to admit the possiblity of it.
Here's a team to think about that could fly under the radar, West Virginia. Steve Slaton's a hell of a RB...
