I know we don't have any real stars yet. But who do you think has been the team's MVP so far this season?
By the numbers? Mosley. He’s been a monster. Hard to say someone that starts on the worst defense in the league could be a teams MVP though. Logically? Fant. He stepped in and played LT better than the starter. But no OL is going to be named team MVP. Same with Berrios. Deserving, but he’s a ST guy. Realistically? Michael Carter because he’s got the stats and he plays a skill position. Also why is Ashtyn Davis on this list? He’s the worst player on the worst defense.
Mike White in a landslide. He kept the team from quitting shortly after the bye and sliding to 2-15 or something like that.
Jeez there aren’t a ton of good options. It seems like Fant and Elijah Moore have probably been our best players. Elijah Moore will have missed too much time to have earned it. So Fant? McGovern’s been good ever since they fixed the dumpster fire at right guard that was Van Roten.
Probably have to go Bryce Hall. He has been the Jets most consistent player all season and he has remained healthy all season too. He was a solid CB1 when the Jets had many questions about their CB's headed into the season.
It's LT Fant and it's not even close. He has had a pro bowl year, and there were people who wanted him cut before the season to save money. He has been a rock at LT and IMO should stay there next season. Bechton hasn't shown squat and should be moved either on the line to another position or to a different team altogether. Good, smart teams move on from players who look like busts--It took the Arizona Cardinals 1 year to realize Josh Rosen was a bad pick, so they moved him and drafted Murray--THAT is how a team improves instead of hanging onto high unproductive draft picks forever--Showing my age now, but the Eagles drafted a DE very high in 1995 named Mike Mamula who wasn't that great in college, but had a fantastic combine. He stunk in the NFL and the Eagles even gave him a second contract, so sure his combine numbers would eventually translate to NFL production--they never did.
Why don’t you do some research and show us who killed him on signing Fant? Because you’ve posted this exact thing several times and I don’t remember anyone killing him for Fant. Fant was decent last year. The problem last year was the dreadful guard play.
My memory is all the research I need. When it came to criticizing Douglas for the offensive line last year, Fant was clearly in the line of fire.
Hall was steady as a rock against the number one receivers on opposing teams all season long. An absolute top notch pick by JD. He gets my vote.
The only issue I have with picking him is that without him, the defense is still the worst in the league. To me MVP means a guy who absence would make the team marketably worse. The defense can't really get any worse But he is definitely a keeper and a great pick by Douglas.
Going with Fant. He's done an admirable job filling in for Becton and is making a case to be the starting LT next season.
How can we be having an MVP discussion without Braden Mann??? A team this bad has no choice but to name their punter Team MVP!
Quinnen Williams is the best player on the team in my opinion. You could make a case for Fant or Hall, and if Michael Carter didn’t miss 3.5 games I think you could make a very good case for him.
Adding that Fant is a team elected captain (last year, but still). Leader + Stepped up when needed = MVP
No love for our long snapper Thomas Hennessy? One of the only guys on the Jets who does what he's supposed to do.
