As much as I hate to admit it Brady is the best QB in the league today, when you get a MVP by unanimous votes and have a TD:INT ratio of 36:4 you've had a stellar season. With that said, Aaron Rodgers just won his first Super Bowl and could make a bout for 2nd best QB in the league. This could be very interesting now that he has one, according to this debate. My question ultimately is who is the second best QB in the league right now?
Rodgers is not second best. His season was up and down, up vs bad teams, and avg/slightly above avg vs good ones. You have to remember that Sanchez looked like Brady vs this same defense in their previous game, there is something majorly wrong with that team (most notably Harrison and Polamalu look like dogshit) As for QBs I think it EASILY goes 1) Brady 2) Rivers 3) Peyton 4) Vick (you have to remember this guy has NO offensive line and is running for dear life every single play) 5) Rodgers 6) Brees (although this is debatable since it seems like he was a 1 year wonder when they won the superbowl)
Tom Brady is the second best QB in the league, first is obviously Mark Sanchez. He wears the green and white of the Jets ergo he is #1. Obviously I assume we're just talking starters, if we're including backups as well then clearly the second best QB in the league is Mark Brunell for the reason already quoted.
this workss for me too. btw i do not get the vick love.he had a good year after being gone for 2 years and nobody was sure if he would still have his legs.philly fan should prepare for mediocrity next season
Brady/Manning - Group 1 Rodgers/Brees - Group 2 Roethlisburger Rivers I can see Sanchez working his way up here in another year or two, especially if we can manage to make it over the hump of the AFCCG.
Rivers number 2??? Vick #4? Straight away Rodgers, Rivers and Brees are all better QBs that Vick - EASILY. Vick may be a great athlete, but he had better hope to develop into a great QB for when his luck or his legs run out.
Ronny Mexico had an over 100 passer rating this year with the WORST O-Line out of any playoff team. If we're judging by this year alone, he's easily in the top 3.
Manning is not getting any younger, while Rodgers is entering his prime...I'll give the nod to Rodgers
He had a good year for sure. I will give him that. I have never been a big fan of his, but the way he came out and played most of the year was pretty good, and it gives some promise that he may turn into a top guy in the league. That said, I wasn't just judging it based on one year alone. Each year as guys progressively get better, or begin to fade, you are going to realign their ranking. But if you were to pull it out of context of a career and look at a single year only, you may get a very different sense of who is good. But I don't think that is the way to go.
Oh boy...we're going to have the Brady/Manning argument come up in this thread again. If I'm ignoring system and expectations and simply judging based on results, I'd say: Brady Manning/Rodgers (too close to call) Brees Rivers Vick If I'm taking systems into consideration and looking at raw QB play, I'd say: Manning Rodgers Brady Rivers Brees Vick Note that I'm not including Big Ben.
LOL at those selecting Aaron Rodgers over Drew Brees. Remind me again how many Pro Bowls Rodgers has been selected to?
His O-line was worse than the Steelers who were missing both starting offensive tackles? Maybe his high passer rating had something to do with the fact the NFC defenses are mostly crap?
Rodgers can make the throws on the run as well as standing in the pocket. Rodgers had HALF the interceptions Brees had this year, and had 700 yards less passing despite 180 less completions. Rodgers threw for more yards than Brees last year. So laugh at yourself instead of those who are putting Rodgers right where he belongs.
