Potentials to make the roster 4 Quarterbacks (Pennington, Bollinger, Clemens, Ramsey) 5 Runningbacks (C. Martin, Barlow, Blaylock, Houston, Washington) 2 Fullbacks (Askew, J. Martin) 6 Wide receivers (Coles, Cotchery, McCareins, Dwight, Smith, Newhouse) 4 tightends (Jolley, Baker, Dreessen, Dearth) 6 tackles (Jones, Ferguson, Cavka, Morley, Clement, Blanton) 4 guards (Kendall, Moore, Snell, Nienhuis) 3 centers (Mangold, Teague, Katnick) 3 tackles (Alailefaleula, Robertson, Pouha, Adams) 3 ends (Ellis, Oelhoffen, Ball) 9 linebackers (Barton, Vilma, Hobson, Thomas, T. Johnson, Schlegel, Chatham, Kassell) 5 corners (Dyson, Barrett, Mickens, Miller, Coleman) 7 safeties (Coleman, Rhodes, Strait, Washington, Maddox, E. Smith) 1 kicker (Nugent) 1 punter (Graham) This adds up to 61. We need to cut 8 players, obviously to knock it down to 53. Keep in mind that Pouha, and Martin are injured. If they are on the PUP list I believe we can leave them on the roster and get an extension until after the 53 man roster deadline. My guesses are: A. Maddox R. Newhouse N. Katnick D. Nienhuis I. Snell M. Cavka Curtis Martin retires and Sione Pouha placed on injured reserve.
are you talking about Cedric Houston? No way! I still think he could be starting opening day, if not at least 2nd team
Id be surprised if he keeps 4 qbs. I think Bollinger gets cut. Id be surprised if he keeps 4 tes -- despite the fact that dearth is the ls. I think a rb/fb definitely gets cut.
I wouldn't be surprised if we kept 4 TEs, that's what we did last year and it worked out fine. I know we have a new coaching staff and all but Dearth is one of the, if not the most reliable LS in the game...he's more valuable than he's made out to be. I agree though that a back gets cut, I doubt we keep 7.
If it were not for the cap, I would call for the crazy scenerio of cutting Bollinger and Ramsey and list Smith as the #3 QB/WR.
Tough to see us keeping 9 linebackers although theres no one that's really deserving to be cut. I doubt McClover or Ryan Myers will make the team though.
McClover is a special teams ace and was at it again in DC - no way I let them cut him if I'm Westhoff.
What I hope will happen and what happens are two different things. What I hope is Ramsey, McCarins, Jolley and Askew get cut.
I don't see us keeping so many linebackers or safeties, when all we have is 3 DE's and 3 tackles. Something's gotta give!
You have to keep 4 because of that. We have 4 QBs in camp. If they cut Ramsey or Bolly and then Chad gets hurt early, the Jets would be looking for a QB. That would be kind of a crazy place to be when a few weeks before you had 4. Tangini would be second guessed.
I like houston alot too but someone has to go. washington and barlow are locks it cost more to cut blaylock then to keep him that leaves houston. barlow can fill his role.
I really dont think you need 4 qbs. Once you go through 3 -- your season is already shot (see, last year for example). I dont think you can second guess your FO -- just because they kept 3 qbs -- especially when you have an emergency qb (smith) on your roster anyway. Its pretty hard to know whos going and who staying -- unless you know who is on the Special Teams squads.
Fair, but then who do you cut? They went of their way to sign Ramsey for next year, but Bolly hasn't looked bad. That reminds me, where is that Bollywood guy that used to post? He was funny.
I'm not the bollywood guy, but I think Bollinger is better than Ramsey. Ramsey just seems like he doesn't belong out there whenever I see him playing. At least with Bollinger, there's always a threat to scamper 10 - 20 yards. An it's less likely that he would end up being the backup, he'd probably be 3rd in line behind pennington and clemens. I say let Ramsey roll out and... he just got caught ridin' dirty if you ask me.
