Bell was MVP of the game to me, he played outstanding. Spadola was good but had a big fumble. Simms was really solid as well. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
Converted DT Will Campbell was our best offensive lineman tonight. Mostly by default, but he didn't look lost out there like some others *coughjasonsmithcough* and he showed some nastiness, which is always nice in the trenches.
I like what I see from these kids: QB: Matt Simms - Frankly, I was not so high on this kid before this season. I always thought GMac was a better QB material in WCO. To me, Matt looked hesitant at times, too inconsistent and looked lost in some cases that I saw him last off-season. [Now I know that's the evil machination by one-and-only, Tony Sparano.] And Matt just told me to stfu. I will, son. I will. If he can keep up with his 70% completion ratio and turnover-free performance, Jets MIGHT have found their QB. That kid comes with a rocket of an arm - so his brain and accuracy were the two biggest knocks so far. And he has shown [be it against 2s and 3s] times and again, that he's a different QB now. I would really love to see how he fares against 1s in live games. 2. WRs - especially, Ryan Spadola and Zach Rogers. I would really, REALLY hate to see them cut. Spadola should get a roster spot, and Rogers should get a PS squad spot. If they blossom, Jets will have Hill/Kerley/Spadola/Rogers for the next half decade AT LEAST. Now, add Clyde Gates and Campbell. Too much of a good thing, eh? 3. Bell - Powell, Bell and Ivory, with Bohanon at FB spot look good enough for me. 4. Defense guys: JJ, Ricky Sapp in particular, and fucking Antonio Allen It looks like Jets found their SS in JJ. If he can keep it up, Landry/JJ will provide nice window to get a blue-chip prospect for the next few years. Hell, JJ might stay for his career for all I know. Sapp - looked mighty fast. Just, I don't know if he can be a three-down LB. Still, I would like to see him stay with the Jets. And, Antonio Allen. The [moron] who blew up his assignment in 100 yard TD run last week. He looked pretty competent today. He must have been grilled hard core last week. As the league is evolving toward high-octane pass offense, having good number of competent safeties in the backfield is really important. I'd say he's trying to show he belongs.
Ditto on Bell, Spadola, Simms. Sapp is a keeper. Zach need to be protected A sleeper in my opinion is Douzable.
I would like to see Michael Campbell and Leger Douzable stick around. Zach Rogers can beat guys down the field but has got to work on his hands.
Matt Simms - aside from that ugly first drive he looked great. Ryan Spadola - really like this kid. he did fumble, but that's alright he's a rookie. he has great hands. Kahlil Bell - he'll definitely be our 3rd back. Mike Goodson ruined his shot, I would just cut him and be done with it. Bell did what every player fighting for a spot should do. Leger Douzable - great motor. could be a solid 2-3 guy for us. now for the cuts: Jason Smith Ben Obomanu Mossis Madu Graham Harrell
DOUZABLE! also, Spadola's drop, dropped his stock a lot, imho. I hope not, but hopefully that could be fixed.
Spadola has a spot locked. He was featured in the video show and tell this week. No way to sneak him to the PS. Of course, the Jets have in past kept a questionable veteran over the flashing rookie, but I doubt it happens this time. Rogers and Campbell make the Jets decisions tough. Campbell really flashed tonight, and Rogers is really a good player. He alligator armed that one pass and muffed the punt but he has flashed in every preseason game. Andy Reid teams have kept 7 WR before, we may do the same and try to get an additional OL to the PS.
