Since both guys are joining the team for their first game on Monday night, who has the bigger impact for the rest of the year? Braylon Edwards or Calvin Pace?
Calvin as far as production. I think Edwards will be solid for us this season but he is going to have to learn a new system and get in sync with Sanchez. I think we will see the best of Braylon in the seasons to come. But Braylon could impact this team in other ways when it comes to opening things up for the running game and taking some coverage away from Cotchery.
I voted Calvin Pace, not because I dont think Braylon will have a big impact, I just think that Pace will be that much of a Beast in this D. He's gonna rip shit up, thats for sure.
pace and gholston aren't even in the same conversation. a whole side of the defense just got better 10 fold. braylon makes it easier to run the ball, and maybe we'll see more fade routes again. Remember all those fade routes????????
edwards because the defense is already the best part of this team and is holding there own without pace, he will make us that much better when he returns. edwards on the other hand if everything works out the way we want it to: Edwards as our effective deep threat, i think the offense will benefitt alot from this trade and the offense is not as solid as the d, maybe this takes them there.
I actually don't think the Jets and Browns offensive systems are that different. The Browns offensive coordinator was the Jets QB coach last year.
To be honest, I have no clue, which is why i wanted to ask the board. As far as monday, hands down it will be Calvin Pace. It would be asking far too much to ask of edwards to learn enough of the playbook to have a big time impact just 5 days after joining the team.
I think it is Edwards without a doubt simply because he changed the entire dynamic on offense. I love Pace, but this team is already a top defense without him. He will definitely help a lot on the defensive side, but Edwards changes everything on offense just by stepping on the field. He does not even have to catch a pass, and he will still have a huge impact on offense. Pace will also do similar things for our defense, but considering the defensive side is already top-notch without him, the impact isn't as drastic.
Pace I mean when your team is based on Defense the best players you can get make you that much better
Pace will play better but Edwards will play a more important role. (Similar to Revis being a better player then Jenkins, but Jenkins being more important) Our Offense, while not awful, still needed a lot more help than our dominant defense. Edwards will do tons for this offense just by being on the field.
Considering Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll worked under Jets OC Brian Schottenheimer the past two years, Edwards should have little trouble adapting to the Jets' offense -- Nate Davis-USA Today
Wow I just got of work only to read about this trade, what a blockbuster. too bad we had to get rid of Stuckey, I really like that guy as a hard working player. However, I think if Edwards turns into what he is supposed to be then it was worth getting rid of what we got. Mangini either really hates the Pats, or loves the Jets for giving him an opportunity. Mangini also shows his lack of respect for the growth of Brad Smith thus far either. He should have taken up as a "OK, I fucked up" piece of the trade.
Braylon! Pace will be awesome but it's not like we haven't played good D without him. I'm hoping Braylon helps open up the offense, specifically the running game. If you wanna stack the box it may not be a great idea with cotch and edwards on the outside.
