I'd have to say Mangold...he picked up the system very fast and is effective at calling the line plays already. He has the quickness to get to the next level and it's nice to see no more botched snaps and shotgun tosses.
Dyson has been a great acquisition but he has also gotten burned a few times... I'm going to have to go with Mangold, he's been plain nasty.
I also go with Mangold - it's amazing how he has stepped into the starting position (and all of the line calls that go with it) without missing a beat.
mangini would be my vote as well...but b/c he isnt on there it went to dyson too early to tell who will mean the most
I said D'Brick. He's played very well, the whole line has considering almost entirely new guys. Lots of poeple have played well and I like the idea that Mangini was the best offseason aqcuisition, because he is the one who made it all work out.
The great thing here is, as you read down the list, nothing smells like a bust. Not saying they all go to the Pro-bowl, but if they all turn out to be solid contributors, then it will be one of the best drafts the Jets ever had in their history.
The way the question is phrased (Who has been the most successful offseason acquisition?), I have to say it's Ferguson. He's as solid at that position as we though he'd be, right out of the box. But if the question were to be something like, "Which aquisition has exceeded your expectations the most?" I'd have to say Mangold. I never though he'd go in there as a rookie and step up so well. That is one really difficult position for a rookie... and he's handling it far better than I ever expected.
Free Agent wise it's Dyson. He's young, fast and doing pretty well thus far as a Jet, i'm happy at his progression. Draft wise i'll probably have to go with D'Brick. For a rookie to cover the blind-side of a QB who can go down at anytime, he's been a huge plus holding off rushers and protecting Chad's blindside...And he's only started in 3 career games, i'm happy.
I said D Brick because a dominating left tackle (which hopefully he will become) is the second hardest position to fill after quarterback........or at least that is what I have read by draft analysts, etc.
I went with Mangold. Plain and simple, he stepped into a very difficult position. Not only is center a physical position, but it requires timing, poise, and intelligence. Nick has shown all of those traits already. He was an absolute steal where we got him in the draft.
i'd have to say Mangold or 'Brick. we've heard more about the strides by Mangold, but we haven't heard much abour 'Brick, which is a good thing. he's been solid and lived up to expectations, while Mangold - at this point - has exceded them. okay, Rajensen. time to make your pick, buddy. cheers
Ehhh out of the list I'm not sure, I'm going to have to think and then vote on it. My real choice is not on the poll, and it's Eric Mangini.
Dyson has looked much better this season than he did in Seattle. Combined with Barrett they can certainly contain any team's top 2 recievers, if not shut them down.
definitely contain, but not shut them down. they give too much cushion to shut anyone down, yards-wise. but if they can limit big plays and TD's, then that's just as good. cheers
