I saw this on ESPN - I say stay away from White! Read his selfish comment!

Not as tight as LenDale White, the other half of the USC tailback tandem, and the man who holds the school record for touchdowns. Still nursing a sore hamstring he said he sustained at the combine sessions in Indianapolis nearly six weeks ago, White looked soft and performed only in the bench press drill, where he eked out just 15 lifts. He rarely removed his track suit and, when he did, White looked soft. He weighed in at 244 pounds, six pounds heavier than he was at the combine.

White didn't seem concerned about not being able to work out. "I'm the only true big back in the first round, and people who want the physical runner are going to have to look at me," he said.

Several personnel directors emphasized, though, that time is running out on White, who has yet to be timed in the 40.

"At some point, and real soon, he's got to take off that warm-up suit and run," said one of the head coaches on hand. "No one has a 40-time on him and that's not good."

Only 15 on the bench press. I'm pretty sure I read that Bush did 24. That is sad for a big back.

I think Lendale White is just an immature kid, who knows what he wants but doesnt want to work hard enough for it. He's overweight, a little bit of a headcase but its interesting to see if Lendale falls to 29, some people say we shouldnt touch him but if he were to slip that far I would take a good look at him.

i was never that big on him, and it seems as if hes very very lazy. sore hamstring for 6 weeks? he didnt even do much at the combine. and he gained 6 lbs too?

even if you could overlook that.........15 reps? i dont think triangle numbers mean anything..........but when your forte' is being a "power back" and theres WR's/DB's/QB's who are lifting as much as you, something is wrong.

The more I read about White, the less I like him. Didn't care much for him to start with though.

This is extremely disappointing. I really liked LenDale White, because in my mind, he was the only back of quality in the top tier of this draft who I thought definitely capable of carrying a heavy workload in the NFL. He really reminded me of a Lamont Jordan type, and I was really intrigued at the prospect of bringing him into the fold. Now I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.

In thinking about this this may be a good thing. He is ruining his draft value! Maybe we could get him in the 2 round and maybe that would humble him enough to straiten him up! From his comment I don't know if #29 is enough to "shock" him into becoming dedicated and a good pro.

White's numbers were unimpressive, poor bench press and he didnt run which hurt him even more.

White is not Mangini nor NYJ kind of guy, read hard working, unselfish, smart, team player. Pass on White.

Bench press isnt as important for a guy like him, bench is more important for any other position where you need explosion out of your arms. For a running back squat would be much more important, they break tackles with their legs, and lendale could have a weak upper body and have a ridiculous lower body, thats the way he plays and i wouldnt be surprised if thats true

The spin machine is definitly in full motion, but I saw reports today stating that he tweaked his hamstring during the bench press causing him to stop and also not to run. He is also planning a private workout before the draft, take it for what it is worth...

USC's White shows little to NFL scouts
    By Bill Williamson
    Denver Post Staff Writer

LenDale White has heard the murmurs about what NFL scouts thought of his work ethic. He was set to change their minds Sunday at USC's star-studded workout.

However, a nagging hamstring injury put his plans on hold. White's uncle, Herman White, said Sunday the former Denver South and Chatfield High star tweaked his hamstring during a bench-press drill and was unable to continue the workout.

"LenDale is devastated," Herman White said. "He was out to show what a worker he is and how well he can do all these things people questioned about him. But he had to scratch. He knows there's a perception out there. Hopefully, this doesn't continue it."

Herman White said his nephew will see a specialist this week. White will hold a private workout the weekend before the draft, his uncle said.

White, a player the Broncos are monitoring, was one of several USC draft-eligible players who worked out in front of an estimated 150 NFL personnel. He finished with 15 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press because of his injury, his uncle said.

White, who didn't run at the combine in February, weighed 6 more pounds Sunday than he did at the combine, when he dropped to 238 from 252, which he said was his weight for the Jan. 4 Rose Bowl.

Some NFL scouts believe White's weight and spring inactivity could drop him in the April 29-30 draft. In February, he was considered a top-10 pick.

The Broncos have the No. 15 and No. 22 picks in the first round. The Broncos, who usually don't take tailbacks in the top round, likely will take a running back early. The Broncos like big backs, and White's running

Anyone who ever thought this guy was an option should bow their heads is shame... I never knew why people considered a heavy back for our 1st round pick - even in a trade down - I think we should find these posters and put them up against the wall - I'm sure their on to the next greatest draft hype by now anyway.

That means YOU Mr. Curtis martin. ; )

If LenDale had won a Heisman we'd be comparing him to the bust Ron Dayne. Now we'll have to wait until the end of his first NFL season to do that.

How do you tweek your hamstring on the Bench Press? Unless he had horrible form & was arching his back I see no possible way he could hurt his hammy on BP. Plus 225 isn't that much weight.

With a flat back, sometimes your body tries to compensate when your primary muscles for a lift are shot, and you tweak a muscle elsewhere... I've gotten it many times before doing Incline.... You can't tell me you've never had one leg kick out when you were lifting and felt tight after that...
