I just thought it would be a fun idea to pick which team we think will have the top pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and select Andrew Luck to be their franchise QB. We can then bump this thread in April to see if we were right.
I can't see the Niners tanking it to get him. Harbaugh's too proud to do that. He'll try to win as many as he can in San Francisco. Buffalo, Cleveland, and Washington are my best bets. Washington is going to be horrible, so if I had to choose just one team it would be the Redskins.
I didn't want the poll options to be that extravagant so I only included teams that absolutely are going to need QBs come next year's draft. That's why I left teams like the 49ers (Colin Kaepernick) and Browns (Colt McCoy) out.
Buff, Wash or Cincy. My surprise team will be Cincy to get Luck, even with Dalton. You don't pass on a franchise QB and Marvin Lewis will be history. A new coaching staff will want the new QB. Cincy may have the worst record in the NFL in 2011. Baltimore, Pittsburgh and an improved Browns team will kill the Bengals.
Why are the Raiders in this poll? The posters on this site really seem to think that Oakland is a bad team. I'm not saying they're a great team, but they can definitely make the playoffs in 2011.
Redskins are a joke... no QB, almost no WR, no RBs except for a rookie, no CBs... please. Beck-Grossman-Clemens? I wonder how Redskins message boards are feeling about their future. I hope Clemens wins the job... would be fun to see him as a starter.
Jason Campbell isn't bad either. He's not a guy that will put up big numbers, but he's smart with the football. If Oakland plays good defense and McFadden stays healthy, they'll win 8 or 9 games. In order for a team to get Andrew Luck, they'll have to be the worst team in the NFL. The Oakland Raiders aren't even close to being the worst team in the league.
I think with the new rookie scale in place we will see quite a few teams tanking to try & obtain as high a pick as possible.
I agree. The team that drafts Andrew Luck is probably going to have to play in a division with three good teams like the NFC East.
I actually wonder if this may become an issue later on in the season... after all draftin Luck or Barkley might really help sove many problems if your QB sucks.
With the new rookie scale, it doesn't matter as much whether a team just drafted a QB. Having said that, I'd guess Washington or Buffalo.
Lets' not forget about Nick Foles!! I expect big numbers from Foles and he could easily be a Top 10 pick with a great season.
My favorite of the group far and away. He'll easily be top 15 if he stays healthy, I bet he enjoyed hearing Criner would play this year. I see Ben Roethlisberger when I watch him, except not a raper(sic)..
One issue, Criner may not play this year. Are you sure??? Last I heard Criner was out for undisclosed personal issues. Criner is a beast!!
Besides Luck and Barkley, my favorite QB prospect is SDSU's Ryan Lindley. Lindley has tons of experience in a pro-style offense and he's put up great numbers surrounded by limited talent. ...could be this year's Andy Dalton.
