Seeing Matt Barkley tumble into the 4th round, in addition to a whole bunch of Jets fans upset with Geno Smith and saying the team should have waited until 2014 "for Bridgewater or Manziel", I'm curious about this forum's consensus on the potentially elite QBs of next year's draft.

So, as of May 2013, which of next year's QBs will be a top-10 pick? Select as many as you want...

Bridgewater, Boyd, Carr, and Manziel going into the 2013 season. At least for me.

Bridgewater is the only one that I'd be shocked if he fell from being a top 10 guy, way more shocked than even Barkley falling.

I think Bridgewater and Manziel for the top 10 now, albeit I wouldn't be shocked if Manziel fell off like Barkley.

Murray, I'm not high on him at all. He has the tools, but he never puts it together. If he was in this year's draft, I'd say he be like a 6th rd pick type. I don't see why he would stand out over say a Landry Jones to be quite honest.

Boyd has potential, he's certainly interesting. I wouldn't be shocked if he moved into the top ten, albeit when there were rumors that he might join this class, he wasn't though of as highly as say Geno, although I guess neither was Manuel. But if he can produce like he did this year, then I can definitely see him coming up.

I'm not too high on Miller, too much of a run first guy. I'm not that familiar with Carr so I'll avoid talking about him. Ditto with Morris. I'm not high on McCarren either, because Alabama's biggest weakness is their passing game. He has an NFL offensive line and RBs, yet their passing game is merely average, and they basically just want a game manager.

Mariota is extremely interesting to me. I'd like to see what he does this year, and I know this won't be popular right now, but I think I like his tools better than Manziel translating to the NFL. He has legit speed, very good size, very good arm, and pretty good accuracy. If I had to bet on someone jumping into the top ten besides Teddy and Manziel, he would it. I could see him going No. 2, much like say Luck-RGII. But he needs to prove it this year without Kelly.

Still dangerous to say who will be avail in the 2014 draft. It's very possible that both Bridgewater and Johnny Football both stay in college. Though if they both have outstanding years it's hard not to see them declaring for the 2014 draft.

where is David Fales? I would say going into the season Bridgewater, Manziel and Boyd are top 10 picks.

Bridgewater is the only lock right now. Manziel, Boyd and Fales all have the ability to be top 10.

I don't think Teddy Bridgewater is a lock to be a top 10 pick if he comes out next year.

If he maintains or improves his current level of play and Louisville does also then he's a top 10 pick. If he gets hurt or Lousiville has an off season or his performance drops a bit he might well not be a top 10 pick.

I actually like McCarron. A lot.

Just I'd like him with 5th round pick or lower - like GMac was.

McCarron is the only guy who threw a more effective deep ball than Geno Smith this year according to the study somebody linked in the Smith thread. Made me look at him a bit differently. Going to have to go watch some Alabama video now.

If any QB has that kind of OL protection and powerful ground attack at his disposal, his deep passing attack will look that much more impressive - that's my take.

I think that's a good take to have. I am curious about him though. Throwing an accurate deep ball is a valuable trait if you have some pocket presence also.

McCarron isn't bad though he's in the easiest position on the planet to succeed. Still, he'll have a great team again this year, he wins a 3rd BCS Championship, he'll be very attractive on draft day.

Johnny football is doing every thing he can to bump down that list it seems. Blowing off the manning football academy was just stupid.

McCarron is the modern day Ken Dorsey in my opinion.

Assuming McCarron has a senior season that builds on what he did the last two years he's going to be a late teens early twenties 1st rounder. His arm strength is going to keep him from going in the top 10 because that's something that is a hard cap at the top of the draft.

I could also easily see something going a bit off kilter for him and putting him in the 2nd to 4th round range.

He's thrown 46 TD's and 8 Int's out of a modified pro set the last two years. If he continues that kind of efficiency and continues to hit some deep throws he's going to go in the 1st. Yeah, the personnel around him is very good but he's maximizing his contributions along side that.

He's definitely going to be an NFL QB and eventually will be competing to be a starter. I just don't see much upside in his game - Ken Dorsey also at one point maximized the talent around him (Andre Johnson, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore, Kellen Winslow, and Jeremy Shockey).

Derek Carr really intrigues me as a prospect also. I watched a few of his games, he just needs more in-game experience.

It blows my mind that anybody would consider Logan Thomas a top 10 guy. He's does not have what it takes to be an NFL QB. You could argue he doesn't have what it takes to be a college QB.

I seriously doubt if that will happen. I really do.

Statwise, GMac is much superior to McCarron; i.e. GMac finished his senior campaign eclipsing 70% completion ratio - which McCarron hasn't been able to meet so far. GMac had more yardage per game (230 - 200 in favor of GMac.) than McCarron has.

If GMac was good for 7th round with 1 bowl appearance, I don't see how McCarron will be any better than 5th, even with 2 more bowl appearances.

Bridgewater is the only one I'd say is a top ten pick right now. Boyd could potentially do it.

Manziel is screwing himself with this NCAA bullshit.

I'm a Va Tech fan and I agree. He would have to show massive improvement this year to get near that discussion.
