I saw an interesting question that I found on my Facebook timeline:

Since these forums are Jets related and sports heavy, which medium do you think is more reliable when it comes to sports news?

    Social media.

Not sure if you guys hear about the Twitter ban in Turkey. Current Turkish government is a corrupt one and their corruptions were exposed thru youtube and twitter.

In the end, right before the elections, Turkish government shut twitter down in Turkey.

Unfortunately in Turkey, the owners of news media are being threatened by government and Turkish TV's and Newspapers never show anything that will expose current government.

Ya, Social Media. Mostly because it's more user based rather than a biased newspaper agency. Not saying people on social media aren't biased (obviously some are) but being forced to hear some of the bs that large media outlets spew is too much for me sometimes.

The internet is much better because you have a wider range of sources and you can look at more info and base your opinions on the things you find credible.

TV and radio are inherently weaker because there are fewer sources and those sources are all beholden to parent corporations at this point.

Print media is next to useless because of the intense economic pressure on the medium right now. Print sources are on the verge of putting topless writers wearing g-strings at the top of each column page just to generate prurient interest and draw some sales that way. Moobs are kind of gross so the strategy will likely fail.

Somebody doesn't read the Times. I guess you stick to the Post and the Daily News right?

The Times does a story on the Jets about twice a week. The tabloids do like 2 or 3 stories a day. That's the problem. If you have one guy commenting on the Jets for the Daily News two or three times a week you probably get quality commentary out of them at least now and then. With 2 or 3 guys writing a piece every day or two you wind up with absolute garbage because there's just not that much to write about and so they take an idea, usually negative, and then rehash it from every possible angle. As soon as they're done with that they move on to the next negative idea and trash that from every possible angle.

Somebody should do a timeline of Mehta and Myers since John Idzik was hired. I'll bet 80% of what they have written has been negative and they have come back to the same negative concepts over and over again from different angles. Anything to sell right now and the way the Daily News has decided to sell is to trash the Jets.
