I've had season tickets for 26 years and Sunday's performance by the fans goes down as one of the worst in Jet history. First, it is obvious to me that most Jet fans would rather tailgate than watch the game. Every game, Sunday included, the stadium is two thirds empty at kickoff. Is it that hard to time it so that you are in your seat for the start of the game? With security checks, it takes about 20-25 minutes to get from the parking lot to your seat. Leave enough time and get your butts in the stadium or give your tickets to someone who cares about the game and not eating another burger and downing another beer before the game. IN 26 years I have never missed a kickoff and I tailgate before every game. It's not that hard. If you want to eat and drink, stay home. Second, the stadium emptied out at the end of the third quarter. Don't Jet fans realize that no lead is ever safe with the Jets? It was embarrassing. Why go to a game at all if you are going to leave early? To beat the traffic? That is a lame excuse. It's like going to movie and walking out with 30 minutes early so you don't get stuck in the aisle in the theater when it ends. I think that anyone who leaves a game early should have their names taken down by a Jet official on the way out of the stadiuim and be forced to give up at least two seats next year. Jet fans are supposed to be passionate and devoted. Instead on Sunday, they acted like LA Dodger fans - arrive late and leave early. It was a disgrace.
I totally agree, it seemed like no one was paying attention to the game the whole time. These two guys got up like 8 times each to get beer or take a piss, god only knows, and then they left 5 min into the 3rd quarter. You can see in the pics in my post how empty it got from the first the third. I was embarrassed at how quiet it was on third downs. Even Fireman Ed seemed pissed that no one was makin any noise, you could read his lips saying "you guys are at a football game!! What did you Forget?"........... Unfortunately i cant get to this weekend game, but i hope its a lot more lively
I was seething. It is a disgrace to call yourself a JETS fan and leave especially during a Division rival. It was a Nice Day, Afternoon, Division rival. What more do you want? Sushi on a platter in the isles? It even starts before that. The ones who don't even show up or show up late. Get your Asses in the Seats before The middle of the 1st Q!! It's an embarrassment. But you know what? It all stems from us not having an Identity or a Stadium. We have to have a rent a stadium crew in a Stadium playing "Sweet Caroline" to rev up the Crowd? Give me a Friggin Break. Get a real Stadium Filled with real fans.
It's cuz the games are in New Jersey. I bet the WSS would have been rocking with real Jets fans. It's too bad the fans in NY suck too much to stand up to Cablevision and a bunch of lousy politicians. Look at how New Orleans has rallied around the Saints. We could have all rallied around the Jets after 9/11, but NYC just sucks. I'm with joewillie, you leave games early or refuse to make enough noise, then you lose your season tickets. I mean I can give a pass a few times a year, people get sick or are too tired or what not, but 8 home games a year, I expect you to make 5 of them at least every year and cheer your head off.
I dont understand why the Jets/Giants play in New Jersey but the Bills play in new york. Did the Jets ever paly in new york
There is New York City (near New Jersey) and the State of New York. Bills are from Buffalo, a city in New York State. They are as far from New York City as Moe is from Melbourne.
all the idiots that continue to leave early will just be pissed wen another monday night miracle happens , i live 800 miles from ny and im in college, but ive made it to 15 the past 3 yrs and ive been to ne this yr aand im goin to chicago and buff, so if i can make it to htesae and not flunk out of school, then u lazy asses on long island or new jersey or conn, can get off ur asses and come to the game on time, cheer ur head off and stay until its over, and with the jets it aint oves until 0:00 min the 4th
Mate that map doesnt really help. But still, Buffallo play in NY state and both NY teams play out of state right? edit: wait now i just saw ny
I've never left early, but I'm from out of town & only get to 1-2 games a year. Season ticket holders may be more complacent. I think, though, that the majority of those that left were trying to get home to see the Mets.
i completely agree and I have voiced my opinion about this in the past. it comes down to people go to the games to tailgate and the game is secondary.
ROFL, yeah "Sweet Caroline", gotta be the most ball-less attempt to be inspiring. we might as well pay gary glitters bond so he can get the crowd going with his classic.
How about eliminating the stupid and pointless security checks so people can get in on time? Not to mention that the parking situation is an absolute joke at the stadium. You have to park outside the stadium and walk in in order to get out in a reasonable timeframe. Giants Stadium is an absolute joke and they do everything in their power to make coming to the game a chore. They're putting up fences and walls of dirt so people from the outside can't even walk in that way anymore. And this is from someone that lives 5 minutes away, I can't imagine what the people that have to drive an hour+ go through. Another factor is that alot of non Jets fans have Jets season tickets, so we end up with a number of Giants fans and/or fans of the opposing team.
i didnt start going to jets games till I moved out of Jersey (go figure). but i make it up once a year at least. and we get together with my dads old friends. the tailgate IS HUGE. but its real fans, so to make sure we get enough festivities done, we start in the morning, and keep it goin. but me and my dad always head in at least 25-30 mins before kickoff. I miss their old tailgate though, they used to have a Bus painted in Jets green with other decoration. and a few beer taps built in on the side of the bus. good times. Basically I agree, I love to tailgate, but I'm ultimately there for the game and to miss any of it, let alone leave.........just a total act of football blasphemy.
The Jets played in NJ in 2002 when they beat Green Bay for the division and that game was the loud and so was the last game of the year in '98 vs the Pats when the division was sealed, also in NJ. This NY/NJ thing is BS. I don't see how being on the other side of a river would make things louder.
before the security checks the Stadium was always half empty at KO, that's just an excuse. I go through the sec chcks and I never miss the KO. That's how it should be, there's plenty of time to pack up the stuff and get inside before KO.
It's because the stadium panders to tailgaters and lets them take up 4 spaces for each car while people that actually want to see the game have to walk a mile + to get to their seats. Maybe no matter what the stadium did we'd have people walking in late but they certainly don't help anything.
I had to park behind the racetrack on Sunday and take a bus to the main lot then go in and I still miraculously made the game on time. If you want to make it on time it's very easy to do.
I ain't gonna lie, I've missed a few kickoffs. Never intentionally, though. I just don't understand how anyone can ever leave before it's over. Beat the traffic??!?! Are you fucking kidding me. If we win, I couldn't care less about traffic. If we lose, I couldn't care less about traffic. I just love being there for the end, win or lose.
Yes, and there are some people that don't make arriving in their seats before kickoff a "priority" but would still be able to do it without all the nonsense.
I just find it funny that you all worry so much about the other people. I've been doing my thing for over 20 years. I get there at least 5 hours early, tailgate like a mad man, get to the game mostly before kickoff, and always stay until 00:00 is on the clock. But do you think I really give a sh*t what the other people are doing? NO. I don't live in their shoes and don't see the benefit in judging them. They pay their money just like me. If they want to come late, leave early, so be it. Doesn't hurt me at all.....
