The nose-picker. I lost count how many times The New York Post had a back page photo of Joe Walton digging for buried treasure in his nostrils. People were even wearing T-shirts with him picking his nose. Hahaha. And no, I'm not making that up.
Kotite was worse than Holtz.....Holtz had a bad bad team....and had the sense to step down after only 13 games.
In a 14 game season, lol. EDIT & P.S.: The Jets Fight Song. Poor Darryl Stingley (2 years later). Man, some of these names, huh?
I've seen this......Holtz's Jets were a joke and what a shame for Namath to go out like that...but he signified the Jets problems in '76. Old and in need of a talent infusion..... I think Holtz stepped in over his head ( and probably realized it during training camp or at least in the beginning of the preseason ) and became the butt of jokes after stepping down because of his large contract and big name at the time. He inherited a bad team and tried to install a college program into a bunch of aging vets. Bad move.....
Mangini should be a good coach in the league right now but his own stubbornness, lockdown secretive style, and super disciplined/tight ship that he runs is what prevented him from excelling at this level. I remember in 2006 I saw so much good, imaginative things from him. And he did a good job early on in 2008. As good as Favre was it's not easy to change an offense on the fly like that when a new QB is is incorporated that late in the off-season. Mangini wasn't Belichick in any way. Belichick can do the darth hoodie thing but behind the scenes he is much more personable and understands how to get his message across and get guys to play for him. Mangini was far too buttoned up and rigid. It's almost like there was no human element to his coaching style. The players just flat out didn't trust him. And when the going got touch he was pretty terrible in rallying the troops Great eye for talent though
Anytime someone mentions Kotite in jest but still grants him the extra syllable & playful semblance of “Richie” i will immediately burst into crying level laughter regardless of my current activity. Joe Benigno is the master of this art.
Sad state of affairs when Rex Ryan is #3 on your all-time coaches list. I'd have a hard time arguing someone over him at #3 too.
