Best in the league? Top 3? Top 5? For me, they have to be top 5. Although, they could be the best in the league this season. Jordy (when healthy)-Cobb is a great one. Antonio Brown-Martavis Bryant has potential to be one of the best. AJ Green-Marvin Jones. Julio Jones-Roddy White is another. Calvin Johnson-Golden Tate is one. Forgot about Demayrius Thomas/Sanders as well.
Roddy has less than 150 yards and only 1 td. Tate is a hell of a player, but he's underutilized and also only has 1 td. I'd argue our 1 and 2 are COLLECTIVELY the best in the league. And that's f*cking insane given the past 10+ years. Brown and Bryant are deadly, but Big Ben is required to utilize them. We have F'ing Ryan Fitzpatrick... I have heartburn thinking about what this team could do with a qb like that.
I think in top 5 if we're talking strictly WR's. Top 5 (no order) Thomas/Sanders - DEN Johnson/Tate - DET Cobb/Nelson - GB Decker/Marshall - NYJ Brown/Bryant - PIT Up and Coming White/Jeffrey - CHI TY/Moncrief -IND Cooper/Crabtree - OAK Gone and forgotten Garçon/Jackson - WAS Roddy White - ATL (only Jones now) Including TE's (no order) Gronk/Edleman - NE Bryant/Witten - DAL Allen/Gates - SD Green/Eifert - CIN
Just strictly WR talent disregarding the QBs and system, I would take Brown/Bryant and maybe Thomas/Sanders over them. I think Cobb/Nelson is about equal as Decker and Marshall would put up monster stats in Green Bay too AJ Green/Marvin Jones and Calvin/Tate are right there as well in the conversation
Don't forget Hartline/Bowe or Ginn/Cotchery. But honestly I think 1 very, very underrated duo are the Allens in Jacksonville.
Both os those guys are on pace for something like 1200 yards and 10 touchdowns. In their second year. The Jags have become an exciting young team.
With over 1,000 yards and 8 TDs so far, Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown from Arizona are glaring omissions from this discussion. Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns from Jacksonville also say hello. Just because no one seems to care about these teams does not mean they guys aren't playing lights out.
If we are counting injuries and stats this year we may have the best. Demaryius Thomas hasn't been doing much. Randall Cobb is having a few down weeks. Antonio Brown has been non-existent without Roethlisberger. Marshall has 4 games of 100 plus, Decker has a TD in every game he has played. One up and coming tandem that is really underrated is Robinson/Hurns for Jax.
I've said this a million times I think anyone on that Pats team is replaceable. Except for the cheater. Welker, Edleman, Brown, Amendola, Woodhead. Doesnt matter.
If this thread is based solely on stats alone for this season, then I can see the argument that Marshall and decker are a top tandem. Just looking purely at numbers. But in real life, I'm not even sure if they're top two in the DIVISION. I like Marshall, but he's up there in age and isn't a deep threat, he's a possession receiver that catches slants, ins and diggs. I've never been a fan of decker, even when he was with the Broncos. Both are great in the red zone though. If I'm picking the best receivers I definitely pick Watkins and Harvin over them (both have been injured this year) and also Landry and Parker on potential. Again, stats are fine. And if you're using that to say they're the best then fine. No argument there. The bills receivers haven't played much so their stats aren't great and the Dolphins have been a train wreck. But if I could have any two healthy receivers moving forward, Marshall and decker are third in line.
