So we got about 6 million in cap relief with the Sanchez deal so where do we stand now if the cap is not increased?

    Are we 6 million under?

Supposedly, the deal will help clear some cap space.

Sanchez's freed 6.4 so 6.4 + 8.6 gives us 15 Million just from those 2 factors. I believe there is more money freed elsewhere, gotta check things out.

    *Update*

Did some more research, apparently we were 7.7 under 2 weeks ago. 8.4 million is being carried over. 6.4 freed up from Sanche'z contract. Thats about 22.5 million to spend I believe.

I think the carry over got us 7.7 under so we're at 15 or so

I believe 8.4 million was carried over, but the Jets actually exceeded the salary cap at that point, so after the 8.4 million was applied, that put them at 7.7 million under the cap. After renegotiating Sanchez's contract, they were able to free up 6.4 million which now puts them at 14.1 million under the cap. That's my understanding. Hope that helps!

Brick also restructured plus the carry over plus the Sanchez extension. Once again, we were supposed to be in cap hell and aren't. Some people are funny.

We were never in cap hell, last season we didnt spend all the money because we thought we had a good enough team. Plus I think they wanted to save it for this year, kinda like a bailout if we failed last year(which we did)

Pre Sanchez's extension, we were around 8 mill under. That number included the carry over and Brick deal. So add the supposed 6.4 to 8 and we should be at about 14.4 mill under to work with. 5 Mill toward incoing draft calss leaves us with around 9.4 Mill to sign free agnents.

9.4 mill Means still no Mario williams types, but we now have the money for Pouha and a few other mid range salary guys.

Hand Braylon 3-4 millions perhaps. That would leaves us about 6 million to find a safety or a Oline member or RB.

Not spending to the cap last year had everyting to due with this years situation, not having a good enough team. Tanny makes deals with one eye on the future. He knew he needed the 8 mill for this year. That is the one thing Tanny is great at, he works the cap wonderfully.

With out the carry over and the reworking of Brink and Mark, we would absolutly be in cap hell. Raiders type cap hell, But Tanny gets it done as always.

We should offer Edwards the same the 49ers did last season.
