Missing in the analysis I have read regarding our dismantling of the Titans is that Law played lights out yesterday along with Revis. Their starting receivers, albeit they suck balls were held to 77 yds receiving (B Jones and J Gage). Their leading receiver was douche bag Macariens with 43 cheap yards in garbage time. I think we have a top five corner duo now with Law and Revis and Lowery is much better in the nickel or covering the other teams third receiver. Actually I cant think of a better cb1 and cb2 tandem, anybody else? What do all the folks who said this guy was the plague think now?
well I approved of the Law move, I didnt expect him to come in and play well, I expected him to basically play the dime package, and just teach lowery and Revis some new tricks, just as Faneca has done with Mangold and Brick. But it's great to see Law playing lights out. because it's only going to make Lowery a better player. Lowery needs time to develop his skills against 3rd recievers and in spot duty, in the next year or two, I expect Lowery to become an incredibly capable starter at the corner position opposite Revis.
I was amazed how well he payed against Moss and did more than fine against Ten as well. Great signing by Tanngini
I liked this signing mainly because of the results it would have on Lowery. A lot of teams were picking on him which could've effected his confidence. Now Lowery gets less balls coming his way but when they do he's able to break those passes up, which helps build his confidence up once again. An INT is soon to come this season and next year Lowery will be much, much improved all thanks to this Law signing.
I'm happy he is not committing penalties. He did pull a hammy and didn't play much in the 2nd half.... but he has been effective. I was scared about him being the Herm Edwards Ty Law, the only one I've witnessed first hand. But he is being the DB that Mangini had in New England, so my fears have been pacified.
The two coaches use him differently. With Mangini, he isn't being asked to cover WRs out on an island. He doesn't have the speed or quickness for that anymore...that's why there's always help on his side. He is, however, still using his hands effectively to jam WRs and still has the instincts to read routes, which makes him handy for the underneath stuff. And considering the Jets signed him to a discounted 1-year deal, it's a brilliant move by Tangini.
And to make it better, they not only brought in a savvy veteran to shore up our last remaining weakness, but they also took a player away from the division rivals (Patsies had him in the bag if the Jets didn't snag him away first).
did you guys hear his post game comments on 770 am? he was talking about how he liked eric's locker room and how it was like new england years ago. real confidence, not some rah rah false confidence
It isn't like Tennessee has any legitimate receiivers on that team at all. Hardly a game to ask this question about. Let's see how he does against the Broncos. Of course no way will he get Marshall to defend.
he did well against NE's WR. And Moss catch was uncoverable, so he had a great 1st game this year.... he faces Eddie Royal next. Savvy veteran vs the talented rookie.
I wonder if they don't take a similar approach to the Pats game against Denver. I can see them putting law on marshall with Rhodes over the top and Revis on Royal with cheese.
Yes, he did do well against Moss but the OP of this thread tried to make something out of what he did yesterday and there was nothing yesterday to make anything of.
Law did well against NE when he was part of a double-coverage, but he got exposed brutally when he was singled up. Yesterday I wasn't keying on him in coverage, but I'll re-watch it this week and see. He's done much better than Lowery, that much is certain.
that would be the ideal coverage... then stokley has to be taken care of. Cutler will be throwing 45+ times. it will come down to pass coverage.
thats what i think they should do..with lowery on stokely..i think royal is too fast for law to single up
