whats your response to people that tell you why do you like the jets and why do you love them so much??
I began liking them because they were the first team I ever saw play live, and I began saying I liked them to spite my dad,(he is a Giants Fan) get him angry, but then I really liked them and became a full time and legitimate Jet fan, and I love them for one reason, the same reason I love the NJ Nets, because no one else in my area likes them, there is no one who likes them as much as I do, and they always want to insult me for it, so I just call them band wagoners, and when my team wins the championship, and all the little bandwagoners come saying they like that team, I can say " I liked them first and you FUCKING KNOW IT"
I tell them I became a Jet fan the first time I saw Joe Namath throw a pass. I was 10. It was a preseason game, against the Redskins I think. It was 1972.
Grew into loving them when I was a kid. They are more fun to watch than the Giants. Green is an Irish color.
First regular season game I watched was between the Jets and the Phins. I decided to go for NY and that was it...sealed my fate. My fathers not big into the NFL, and most of my family is Giants fans except my cousin who's a Phins fan. Seeing as I'm the blacksheep of the family, things worked out well.
I became a Jet fan the day Namath spurned the Cardninals to go with the Jets. Three years later they won the SB. I thought life as a Jets fan would forever be easy. How little I knew.
I was borin into it, my dad first became a fan because he was irish and the green meant somthing to him. I got into football at a young age and i stayed with the Jets because i like the orginization and because they are fun to watch.
I had been an NFL fan since I was 11, and then when I was about 20 I saw Victor Green absolutely hammer someone, thats when I knew this was the team for me. Also, being Irish I wanted a team with a good base of Irish fans, and there is no *&%)%$^%ing way that I could pick New England
Growing up in Queens....it was a no brainer. I loved going to Shea as a youngster and watching ...Klecko, Wesley Walker, Greg Buttle etc. I've been a JetFan for 30 years.
Adrian Murrell and later Curtis Martin. The Jets just seem to have great, intelligent backs that aren't the fastest and strongest around but just know how to read blocks. I was always drawn to the workhorse backs with great vision as opposed to the highlight reel backs that most people root for.
