I constantly see the picks that everyone is drooling over and I always think to myself, it almost never happens that way. Which is obvious because teams can go so many different ways in the draft each and every year. So I was curious to know who you guys feel has a great chance of being picked, I'm not asking who you want, I want to know what your gut tells you. I asked myself that and this player is who I feel the Jets could very likely pick. Darqueze Dennard - CB- Michigan State I think that this player is one of a handful of guys that would be an absolute perfect fit for us. He is everything Rex Ryan wants in a CB, I think he is the clear number 1 in this draft, the only real negative to his game is the size but that doesn't matter in the NFL. Look how many undersized HoF there is, it's funny. Here is my reasoning: Corner - Big Need (I don't think we will pick based on need but I have a feeling this kid will fit the bill as BPA and Need at our spot) Physicality - Super Athletic, Great Press/Man Cover Corner IQ - Extremely football smart Great Tackling Awesome Instincts I don't know. I think this kid is going to be great, I think he is a perfect fit and my gut tells me he will be very high on the Jets draft board. If you haven't checked this kid out, please do. What do you guys think?
With Ebron, Barr, Mike Evans & Justin Gilbert off the board. 1) Brandin Cooks 2) Ha Ha Clinton-Dix 3) Odell Beckham Jr 4) Marqise Lee 5) Darqueze Dennard
my gut tells me we go BPA and i think that's odell beckham jr or anthony barr barr could seriously be at our pick at 18
i'd be exstatic if barr fell to us and i'm starting to think it's possible there is going to be the inevitable run at QBs in the first round, which pushes him down. ebron, evans, mack, and potentially lewan have all overtaken him on draft boards. it's not 100%, but i think it's more likely than it was a few months ago
I think the 18 is going to be very close to the BPA and I'm guessing we're going to be surprised by the pick given who we thought would be there on 18 going into the draft. I see this draft as extremely deep in the first 20 picks or so with a great spread of talent across a bunch of high impact positions. I think the odds are good that not one but as many as three guys that we all see as top 15 guys could be there on the 18. I think a few teams are going to reach for QB's who should not be in the top 20 and I think a few teams are going to highly rate prospects who actually are pick 21-30 caliber. I think maybe 6 of those guys (QB's and reaches) go in the top 17 picks and at least one guy we see as clearly top 15 is sitting there on our pick and causing the Jets draft room to re-evaluate on the fly. Guesses as to who might be there include Taylor Lewan, Marqise Lee, Anthony Barr and C.J. Mosley.
I think we end up with Dennard or maybe the best LB available. I would like to get a WR or Ebron but just don't think we will go that way.
I have a feeling we go defense since it's more likely to be BPA. As Br4d said, someone who is considered top 15 or top 10 will likely fall.
ILB's and MLB's tend to be back of the top 10 type players even when it looks as though they will be stars. Frequently they fall deep into the 1st round when the talent pool is really strong. Ray Lewis went 26 in a deep draft in 1996. I don't think Mosley will fall like that but I wouldn't be surprised if he's there at 18.
Assuming Ebron and Watkins are gone .... forgone conclusions, my two favorite players for Jets at 18 are Darqueze Dennard and Dee Ford. I like them both equally and would be ecstatic with either however BOTH are and will continue to generate more buzz and could be gone. My two favorite players are Dennard and Dee Ford. Ford will jump ahead of Barr on most draft boards come draft day. He's like Dwight Freeney on steroids. Look at what he did hunting down Manziel and Winston. The guy is an athletic freak, basically he's the hulk, so obviously better than Barr, and his measurables compare very favorably to Clowney except he's shorter by 2 inches with shorter arms. If we get him, he will be the pass rusher we crave at OLB than can REALLY take the defense to the next level. Most experts think Justin Gilbert is the first CB taken. Well I would love that bc it means Dennard might fall to us. This is the most Revis-like guy to come out since Revis. Unbelievable cover skills and ball skills. He's got a true nose for the ball and hands to close the deal. I do believe that he will be gone before 18, but if he is there, Jets gotta scoop him up. Remember, in 2012, Jets were probably going to draft Bruce Irvin before Sea took him, so Dee Ford might be one of those types. You should all familiarize yourself with him. Many ppl think he will last till 2nd round, I think thats hogwash, someone is going to want him. As for WR .. Cooks looks good, but seriously, this draft is so deep at WR and filled with players like Cooks. WR can wait till 2nd and 3rd round ...... thats how you use a position deep draft to your advantage. Dennard and Ford, I have to imagine, would be much higher on the overall board than Cooks, and I am convinced that Jets will go BPA.
My jet brain is telling me that the odds are we will take a defensive lineman.. But seriously I don't expect Evans or Ebron to fall so what I think the Jets will do.. , Dennard,Lee, Pryor, ODB, Cooks
