Other teams seem to be making coaching moves and here we are not doing anything. Are we getting rid of Sutton or do we have do suffer through another year of his terrible defensive coaching? Are we putting all our eggs in the Ryan basket and if he stays in Oakland we are stuck with Sutton? Any news out there?
I have a few thoughts on the situation... 1.They are waiting to see who gets head coaching jobs. 2.They want someone who is on a team that is still in playoff contention and they don't want to be forbidden from interviewing said person because it's in season- is that how franchises skirt losing talented assistants? -X-
season isn?t even over yet, for some of them, and you already start bitching cuz they didn?t do anything, yet? i thought they made it clear, that they?re looking for a new DC. if we would have signed one already, you would probably have started a thread, complaining, that we signed our DC too quick, and didn?t even see who would hit the market, once the Playoffs are over... gosh i?d put my money on Ryan. let al davis play some games, and when he?s done, sign him.
Not bitching, just wondering whats up. I don't think there has ever been an official announcement on Sutton, only speculation. If he was already fired then I'm ok with waiting. It just makes me nervous that he hasn't been fired which could mean we keep him and continue to suck on defense.
Clearly Sutton is the best DC in the league right now. We could never, ever, do better then him at DC. It really sucks we need a scapegoat for our CS, otherwise we could've kept The Amazing Sutton!! Clearly Mangini had nothing to do with the defense after the bye. No.. I think he might have actually.. Is that why our D started playing 10x's better after the bye? Should Mangini just sign up for that spot in the CS too? Mangini should just go ahead and be the HC and the DC. Why not? He kinda already is.. Sure.. That is speculation, but so is assuming we need a scapegoat too. It would just be unlogical for Sutton to just be bad at his DC position.
First we have to make sure we find somebody who is better than Sutton...then fire Sutton! Why would we just fire him now and risk ending up with nobody?
Were you watching the same team as me? The defense outplayed the offense on every level. Not even close. They were a very good defense after the bye week. Maybe Mangini and Sutton finally found their groove. Shotty should be the first to go, but I'd keep him for one more season for continuity sake.
The Jets could be waiting for all the head coaching positions to be filled and hope that Rex Ryan doesn't get a job and look to move in and scoop him up.
That's what I was thinking too... but at the same time, do you really want someone who might bolt one year later if a HC job becomes available then?
Better after the bye week after Mangini by all accouts took over the defense. We also played a lot of crappy offenses after the bye week which could have had an impact as well. Sutton blows!
that's if you believe the writers. but the same writers told us mangini was losing the locker room, and this was inaccurate. the team played hard to the last down. i think sutton will go because someone better will become available. the guy who whould go is schottenheimer. we have to install a new offense anyway, with Dink and Dunk going.
Writers said Mangini lost the locker room? Seriously? It must suck to be B. Schott right now. Last year everyone was in love with the guy. This year our OL sucks, the offense sucks, and he's the one taking the blame. Funny how no one but a few fans seems to have jumped off the bandwagon on the guy either...amazing how people will laugh at bandwagon jumpers but then turn and do the same thing on a smaller scale.
?ve been very disapointed that the playcalling didn?t change a bit, after KC took over. He clearly had to play with Chad?s Playbook, which didn?t use his strengths but showed his weaknesses. I?m not sure if he would have played better, with a different playcalling, but now we got a young QB who started half a season, and we don?t have any idea if he will be a good one or not.
4 of the 6 teams we played had kickass offenses. We played the Steelers, Cowboys, Browns, and Pats. The only one of those 4 offenses that destroyed us was the Cowboys'. We even kept the Pats to their lowest point total all season.
I didn't know Chad was the OC and made his own playbook? Both QB's started in the offense at the same time. Actually Clemens has had more time in the offense because Chad was still rehabbing. Sure there are certain packages of the playbook that each player is more comfortable with, but if you think this offense is designed around Chad you are crazy. They didn't even know if he could play again when they installed it. The best thing about Chad being traded will be he won't be around to blame when the same stuff happens. Then we can get down to the root of the problems. The bad thing is we might not have a QB once we get the other stuff fixed.
