As it looks like we're going to be without Cotch and Smith this week there is a lot of talk about how the Jets are going to fill the gap at WR. I've been reading about Keller getting reps as a wideout as well as Woodhead being moved to WR, but I don't see any mention of Wallace Wright. I realize that he's mainly on the squad for his ST abilities, but if I remember correctly, he's had some decent catches for us as a receiver and I wonder why he's not in the mix of players being mentioned who might get some playing time on Sunday. I don't necessarily think he should or shouldn't be playing, I just wonder if the fact that we're not hearing his name reflects on the fact that he hasn't impressed the coaches enough to get a shot. Any thoughts?
he's just straight up not a sharp route runner. There is a reason why he's the 6th WR. Clowney just showed the nation he can catch the deep ball because he has 1 on 1 coverage with Edwards taking the safety away from him. This team will miss Cotch because he's so damn consistent, but this team can go vertical against a beat up Buffalo secondary. Sancho can air that mother out.
yeah he aired it out to end the last game. clowney has what 1 catch this year? they are going to bring up wayne chrebe.... oh i mean danny woodhead to be wes welke..... yeah everything is good in wide receiver land. wait until braylon edwards starts dropping the ball.
I actually think we went from WR being a problem position to now being a strength. Clowney looked awesome We all know J-CO is awesome Edwards was incredible on MNF Keller at the TE spot is awesome, if Sanchez can get in sink with him. If you ask me trading Stuckey was the best thing that coulda happened to us, besides the obvious reason of getting Edwards it forced us to send in the Clown. Who Dat gonna cover the Clown?!
Oh no, he didn't get enough air time on the pointless hail mary attempt. Just terrible. You and a few others are the only people placing Woodhead under the same lime light as, Chrebet. I highly doubt anybody in the Jets organization is thinking anything close to that. Way to be completely negative of a guy who came in for us and did fantastic.. Good work, don't worry about giving any props, just continue to try to predict that negative future of yours.
Wright as you all know is a stud special teamer but i think the only asset he has as a wideout is good route running and solid speed other then that he's a questionmark and i believe his knee is banged up a bit so there is a chance we could see woodhead or somone else fill the 2 wideout rolls across from Clowney and Braylon.
If I remember correctly, Clowney was actually double covered on his 50 yard catch. I want Clowney to get significant playing time and Sanchez looking to throw his way. I'm not appointing him as an Elite WR or anything, but he has caught everything thrown his way and is probably averaging 20+ YPC. I want Clowney to have a opportunity to show us if he can handle a bigger role in the offense
alleycat, you are like the Braylon Edwards of this message board. You drop the ball every time you click Submit.
Correct and well put. From a positive point of view, I think he has shown enough so far to be our #3WR. From a negative point, theres not too many options. This might be a real good young group to grow up with Sanchez...no sense in waiting, lets find out.
