Stuckey looked like he could be a good slot guy in the mold of Welker.... It sux that we had to give up on him...
Stuckey would have done well with Cotch and a receiver like Edwards - but he isn't a guy who can do it alone like he was trying to do with where he was lined up. he really is a JAG, so i'll get over him quick.
I am a little pissed to see Stuckey go. I would have been more than happy to see Brad Smith go. Stuckey would have been a perfect compliment to Cotch n Braylon
Why, did he finally get that Job at wal-mart as a greeter? Thats the only way anyone is going to see much of him on a Sunday.
the clown better get some shots in the slot. i can't stand brad smith as a WR. at least lets let clown drop some passes in a real game before we bench him. gotta admit, if braylon gets his head on straight you got braylon and cotch on the outside, keller runnin down the middle. pretty good! and i think we could see clown line up opposite cotch on monday. i doubt braylon will be in there the whole time and someone needs to replace stuckey.
I think this is very much like the trade for sanchez. Mangini says I want a wr! Tannenbaum says you can have anyone you want except Jerricho. Mangini says i want stuckey! Tannenbaum says, ok we good then? Before Tannenbaum says ok pick which qb you want, Mangini wanted Ratliff, and thats who mangini got...
The Clowny is not goign to be a good slot receiver without a ton of work on his route running. Sloppy long strides do nto cut it as a slot receiver.
I know we'd all prefer giving up a 16th round pick and a bagel for Edwards, but most of the time you actually have to give up something to get something. Edwards will be better for this offense than Stuckey...not even close. There will be no earth-shattering negative impact.
I don't think Smith is all that good, but he's been in front of Clowney on two different coaching staffs. That should tell you just how poor the Clown is.
lol people have been saying this since pre season of last year. 2 different head coaches with different mentalities have not put him on the field, there has to be a reason why. edit: thought your post said "we should see what clowney is made of" my bad
There's little to no negative impact from losing Stuckey. Stuckey gets replaced by Edwards, which is clearly an upgrade even if Edwards is not at the top of his game, and the slot receiver remains the same. No negative impact.
Stuckey had been sliding in to the slot on 3rd receiver sets. We now get Smith in the slot, who runs better short routes than Clowney does and is more shifty, whereas Clowney has much more straight line speed. Things don't change all that much, and Smith's size likely means he's not going to be covered by a nickelback. We'll see safeties coming up in coverage, which pulls them off our deeper receivers, or we'll see a linebacker lined up, which is a VERY poor matchup for Smith.
I'm not complaining, but how awesome would it have been to have Stuckey in the slot where he belongs next to Edwards and Cotchery? *vJizz*
