Put your emotions aside. Cover up the Matt Leinart poster over your bed. Based on your gut feeling and tons of smokescreens and misinformation, what do you think is Plan A for the Jets on Saturday ?

Putting aside the fact I do not really want a 1st Round QB and I'm not really thrilled by the prospect of any of the Big 3 ...

I think the Jets are going to trade down pick up an extra first day pick and make a run at Jay Cutler. Possibly in a deal with the Raiders.

Why, not any one particular reason but the whole Woody at dinner thing. That wasn't needed for the smokescreen. The more I thought about it, it did speak volumes. Woody likes the idea of Cutler and he has the checkbook.

Also, something Tanny said on his Jets Nation interview about the discussions being "heated" about who to draft. The camps are apparently divided at Hofstra and although it will be "by committee" I think that if they will make a strong effort to trade down into the top 7 and fill the other needs starting at pick #29.

I think the Jets are gonna stick with that 4th pick....
Unless the Jets feel they can get good quality picks in the second, that is the only way I can see the Jets trading the 4th pick....
If Mario is available we will pick him
I think the Jets pick D'Brick if available only if they feel for sure that this guy is mature and dedicated to being the best....
If not the Jets will go in another direction....
I think the Jets would go TE over RB if Bush or Davis are available at 4.
Even though there has been talk about Hawk, he is not what the Jets need and I don't think they want to invest so much money for two middle linebackers.

I think that when is all said and done we will end up staying at #4 and taking D Brick. I just don't think the FO is going to take a risk on a QB. With the 29th I think one of either Maroney or Deangelo Williams will fall to us.

It's really pretty amazing, but I have no idea who they're going to take. Will it be a safe pick? I would assume that the general consensus is going to be that whomever they do pick, it's going to be widely accepted. I think that the new regime doesn't want to take any risks. Drafting a QB of the future at 4-7 would be considered a risk. While it might be lauded by some as a great move, QBs are just such a risk to take that high. The success rate is 50/50 and when they aren't successful, they really bomb.

For example, how many O linemen that get taken high in the draft end up being absolute busts? Very few. some never live up to expectations, but they're still 10 year + players at their position. Qbs on the other hand end up in the gutter if they can't prove their value in relatively short order.

This FO has confused the hell out of everyone. We're going to find out in less than a week, but I would say that we should all be prepared for some surprises. I don't see them staying at 4. I see them trading down and targeting hawk, cutler, davis, justice, huff, or j. williams. I think that the pressure of the first 4 or 5 picks is ridiculous for a new FO and they're probably thinking they can get great value still at 6,7 or 8. That said, if they stay at 4, it's got to be D'Brickashaw. No doubt about it.

Your rankings are way off base. D'Brick is considered by most draft analysts to be in the TOP 3, you don't even have him listed. I have hawk at #6 behind Young (at 5) and davis at #7.

    1- Bush
    2- Mario
    3- Brickashaw
    4- Leinart
    5- Young
    6- Hawk
    7- Davis

Nice thread.. I too feel that once the emotions calm down, the dust settles, the Jets will surprise most of us. We already have 2 first round QB's on our roster.. I don't see the team forking over a ton of cash for a third one.. ( although I have been big VY supporter on here).

I think if Mario is there at 4, they will take him. If not, I see the Jets moving down and staying in the top ten ( even if Lienart and Young somehow fall to 4).

undoubtedly....unless its either Bush or Mario! I say the jets trade down with the niners and get # 6 and #22 in exchange for #4 and #71..the jets draft V. Davis, D. Williams, and N. Mangold in the first round...thats my guess

I think New Orleans, when push comes to shove, is gonna take D'Brick, because it's the bigger need. So I see it going Bush, D'Brick, Young,,,, and the Jets taking Mario Williams. But I want HAWK !!!!!!!!!!!! At #29 I see the Jets taking Marooney and at #35 I see Mangold.

BPA probably looks like this for the Jets

    1. Bush
    2 Mario Williams
    2.1a Vernon Davis
    2.1b Brick
    3 Trade

The Jets have no interest in Leinart

If Mario is there we take him. If not several teams will bid for the rights to take their personal favorite. We gain a second or third depending how far we drop.

Although it is not the question, I would love to move down twice remaining around the top ten and gain a second and third.

I don't think they move up, except for the 5%

possibility Houston doesn't take Bush at 1. I assume the jets take whoever N.O. does not take between D'brickashaw and Mario unless they get a nice offer to move down a few picks where they can still snag Davis, Hawk, or Ferguson. #29 -Mangold or Winston if they draft Mario, Whoever is left of Carpenter, Demeco Ryans, Lawson, or Wimbley.
    #35 Gabe Watson-big nose tackle
top of 3rd-Brodie Croyle or Kellen Clemens

To those who lambasted me for leaving Brick out of my top 5, I think youll be surprised when the draft roles around. You may think what you wish of him, but the fact of the matter is you never spend a top 5 pick on an OT, ESPECIALLY when your rebuilding, and ESPECIALLY when the aforementioned tackle has major holes in his game. You need someone you can build your team aroound...a RB, a QB, a LB, etc...basically IMPACT PLAYERS. And if you do take a tackle, you better be sure hes DOMINANT...Bricks a dominant pass blocker but is lax in his runblocking, and doesnt possess a killer instinct either. He is undersized and at the next level this, on top of what has been already mentioned, will lead to him being exposed on the line. Prepare to watch him slip come draft day...
